Teaching Assistanceship?

I just got accepted into a enviro/marine bio graduate program doing a TAship. I am excited at the prospects of returning to school, but at the same time apprehensive that it is going to be very stressful. Has anyone done here done a TAship, or currently doing one? Any tips, hints, or suggestions?

Refesh your basics and increase your communication skill. Donot try to be too friendly with the students. Try to make the experiments in the laboratory more interesting by analyzing them with real life scenario. The information in the textbook are often not the latest one. So go through the research papers & news media for the latest in the field. Make a lesson plan and maintain an academic diary to track your coverage of the lesson plan ( Day to Day self tracking). This helps you to shrink or extend certain topics according to your requirements within specified academic session.
Hope this will help.
