Is it possible to create a forum or a blog using just a combination of XHMTL php and MySQL with inclusion of a little bit of JavaScript if required.

I know that many of you will suggest certain websites, tools or simple ways, but I'm looking for a straightforward answer to the simple question, is it possible?

I believe that a combination of databases and tables along with linked ones, can be used to make forum threads and posts, it should be similar to making a comment post, I mean the basic method should be same, and the method of showing posts should be similar as well.

Can simple php and MySQL handle all that processing fast enough? or will it hang or something...
thanks Smile

Yes php can be used to make both types of programs, there are many many examples of PHP+MySQL blogs and forums working. This forum uses phpBB which uses php and most likely MySQL. MySQL will not hang or crash if it isn't fast enough, if MySQL failed so easily nobody would bother to use it.
