Do you think Arsene Wenger was right to buy Toral Harper, the product of Barcelona Youth Academy even after the club has told that they dont like it?
The same thing happend with Fabregas and Fran Merida. They take players from barca youth academy who have great talent and make money.
All clubs do it,so long as the rules allow it, it will carry on happening.
What do you mean "it's against the rules"? If it was against the rules, it's a miracle the transaction was allowed at all! It may be unethical, immoral or whatever you call it, but it wasn't "against the rules".
I guess it's just a fact with modern industrialization, there is a thin line between ethics and profit ... and it doesn't only happen in sports nowadays. Any industry - music, investment, etc.
As far as the commercialization of sports is concerned, it is true that it has been happening since the past two decades - particularly for the players, amidst sponsorship, contracts and financial, legal and "moral" obligations, it has become pretty much as stressful as any modern industrial sector (if not more stressful!). And the competitiveness is maddening too!
If you ask me, I'd rather just play football with my friends in the park than join a professional club (of course, if the situation wouldn't have been hypothetical, it would have been a different ball game altogether ...)
