Zipping in cpanel

n0obie4life
Right.

My phpBB Forum has over 22 templates (divded into 6 folders as some of them are sub-styles, if you know what are they).

So backing it up without using a zip would take forever.

I don't wanna use the "Backup" function in cpanel as it backs up the other stuff I do not want.

Since cpanel has the function to unzip files, why not zip files too?

And, a question here. On my old webhost, when I use the backup function of a control panel other than cpanel or d.a., it eats up the "paragraphing", or i meant.

Code:
this is a line (I'm hitting enter after that bracket)

so i left a blank above

But when I extract the backup from a tar or zip (i forgot), i open the file, it becomes.

Code:
this is a line (I'm hitting enter after that bracket)so i left a blank above

I have used some zip tools in other sites,I think it is useful and convenient,so i recommend that you supply zip and auto-unzip,can you?
kind admin!

You should be able to zip it with a cron job. Just be sure to remove it afterwards. It should be something with "gzip ..." or something similar.

However, I have no time to search it for you. Crying or Very sad

I asked the exact question in the Free Hosting Support forum, all of them told me to use a php script Sad.

I figured out how to do it with sql. Not folders.

I guess you don't know how to read.

I mentioned FTPing takes a while for me as I have over 22 templates.

Ok, use something like:
Quote:
zip -9 filename zipfilename

You just need to have the filename and zipfilename, probably in the right directory.

If you zip text, then download it (rather than just using FTP), it is not converted from Linux to MS line endings. SO you need to open them in a different program and convert it for it to work in notepad.
