Do you know about Firefox profiles?

AftershockVibe
If you launch firefox from the command line (i.e. the "run" prompt, WIN+R in Windows or ALT+F2 in Linux) you can use the "-profilemanager" option.

Code:
firefox.exe -profilemanager

Of course, this can also be done by making a shortcut to the same.

This will give you a small window allowing you to create, delete and select the profile you want to use. Useful if you want a history (and similar) kept, but not interupt your normal browsing experience or if you have multiple users of the same login.

I'm using 3 profiles.
  • One for 3.6.x, which I did not used for a while (about 4 months).
  • One for everyday use of latest released 4.0 beta.
  • One for 4.0 nightly test and development environment.

You can use this syntax too instead of the longer one:
Code:
firefox.exe -P

You can tell firefox on the commandline too which profile you want to start too, like so:
Code:
firefox.exe -P "profilename"
The "P" is capital, it's important.

It's quite underdeveloped,don't you think?

It would be cool if one could combine profiles with the click of a button...

Peace.

That would be cool. But there could be many more features.
