Folder is not accessible. Access is denied.

I am getting the following error

"Folder is not accessible. Access is denied".

while opening a folder in windows XP. I tried to access the folder many times but every time the error appears. I don't know if it is caused by virus......please help me to fix this error problem.

Which folder? Or is it all of them?

Yes could you be more relevant?Which folder is it?Check it's attributes also and post here.And make sure these are not the default windows xp system folder which are made such.

I'm not quite sure, but Unlocker might be able to give you access. It allows you to delete files that Windows doesn't think you have access to, so it might be able to give you access to folders as well.

can you see and change security tab in folder properties ?
if you cannot, try tool, folder option, view, do not select the simple share.
if you can, then in security advanced, change ownership to you and add yourself with full control.

Any 'access denied' message can be trumped by a simple 'su ... *password*'.

Sometimes this happened to me, and I resolved this by running chdisk. Just schedule a scan to run when you next boot Windows, and it should hopefully repair the filesystem error that is causing this.
