Real world applications for polynomials and conic sections

Voodoocat
I know that there a scads of real world applications for polynomials and conic sections; I am looking for applications that will grab the attention of high school students. The examples I have used so far are:

1. A parabolic hot dog oven (this one does get their attention).
2. Elliptical room that is an echo chamber.
3. Planet orbits are elliptical; as interesting as this is, students don't care Sad
4. Parabolic and hyperbolic antennas.

Any cool ideas?
