Flying "doctor" dupes medical profession ...

deanhills
"Dr." William Hamman has to be proof of someone who excelled in the medical field without having any medical credentials. He is a qualified pilot, but apparently not a qualified medical doctor or cardiologist. He participated in training sessions as well as research where he presented himself with a PhD and medical qualifications in order to get ahead. His training sessions were highly rated by the medical profession. Apparently he did a few years medical training and then baled out and became a pilot instead. Looks as though if one has some basic knowledge, as he seemed to have developed in the few years of University training and probably lots of reading and the power of presentation and persuasion, one doesn't really need all those years and years of clinical training to do what one loves to do. Thing is, apparently he did the job very well. But a lie is apparently a lie and he was let go off by United Airways.
Quote:
He shared millions in grants, had university and hospital posts, and bragged of work for prestigious medical groups. An Associated Press story featured him leading a teamwork training session at an American College of Cardiology convention last spring.

But it turns out Hamman isn't a cardiologist or even a doctor. The AP found he had no medical residency, fellowship, doctoral degree or the 15 years of clinical experience he claimed. He attended medical school for a few years but withdrew and didn't graduate.
Quote:
After fessing up, Hamman asked the AMA and the cardiology group to let him continue, saying, "the work is the work."

They decided that a lie is a lie.

"He really didn't need to be a physician to do what he was doing. He could have been successful without titling himself," said Weaver of the cardiology college. "He made a very serious mistake."

Yes, a lie is a lie. Why did it take so long for someone to check his credentials before now? Well, at least he never actually treated a patient.
It is good to study/learn different things but to make false claims is wrong.
Reminds me a bit of the movie "Catch me if you can!"

Probably he's a good con-man. The 'con' stands for confidence, and the key to conning anyone is presenting yourself in a way that makes them confident in you.
Simply master that, and you'll be amazed what you can get away with.

Nice one ocalhoun... I like this definition of con. Very Happy

This guy sounds like that guy who Leonardo portrays in the movie "Catch me if you can"

In any case, he made a lot of money from it, and seemed liked he loved doing it.

I sometimes wonder whether the key is complete self-delusion and egomania? All of the credentials are just unnecessary paperwork and he sees himself better qualified than anybody else in his chosen field of expertise? He has convinced himself that he is as qualified as he presents himself to be. So he would never see himself as conning anyone else.

Gerson says, go vegan with little to no salt, and you could do without a doctor ever, which is good news, cause healthcare isn't getting any better in this country

Depends whether you are of perfect health, have perfect genes, are completely immune to environmental pollution and all kinds of viruses, no one attacks you, etc. Also, a vegetarian has to check up more on his/her diet than those who consume meat. For example if one goes vegetarian there is a good chance one can be short of Vit B12, which usually comes from meat. Also one has to combine legumes and grains to get a perfect balance of protein. And make sure that the diet is very balanced, consisting of a great variety of legumes and grains, vegetables and fruit.
