I've been recently reminded (by this thread) that the lack of table formatting tags is one of phpbb's greatest weaknesses when it comes to formatting posts.
It's not a thing you need to use very often, but when you do need it, there's no good substitute to be found anywhere.
So, could I suggest that formatting tags be added,
Just have them translate directly over to the html equivalents, and don't worry about making it possible to add any attributes (like 'border=0') to the tags.
(Also, any open tags might need to be auto-closed to prevent damage to the page layout.)
That way, users could create simple tables within phpbb, preventing ugliness like the crude chart in the link I mentioned earlier.
allowing use of html table tags is a sure fire way of breaking a page layout.
tbh i think there are other things which would be more use, as it is currently possible to "make do"
I concur - table tags are the thing I most regret not having (that and the LaTeX code which is still probably on Bonding's 'to do' list struggling to work its way up past more urgent tasks )
