Does the script need to write something to a file? For example, to the config file? If so, chances are that the direcory isn't writable, and you therefore would need to change the permissions to 777, it then should work.Smile

The 500 server error is in most of the cases due to an insecure permission (777), not necessarily of the same file, it might also be an included php file or directory. The 777 permissions should be changed to 755.

Anyway, I have some automatic function that fixes the insecure permissions. It doesn't always work, but apparantly in this case it did.

Thanks.

If you have this error, you can see why in your Cpanel at "Error log".

Hi,

I am getting a 500 Internal server error each time I try to run a .php3 script.
This is the script: http://completeforums.frihost.net/forums/chat/setup.php3
I tried chmoding the .php3 files to 755 and it didn't help.

What should I do?

But, that only identifies the problem, and it doesn't give a solution.

Try renaming the file with a .php extension as opposed to .php3, it would be my guess that this will solve your problems assuming the script is written correctly.

That still gave a 500 internal server error

I just got it NVM.
Thanks anyway.

how do i change the default file permission for php files with 755?

anybody? please? Sad

if you are FTP software user (for example: Flash FXP, cuteFTP, etc.), just right click the file name and in menu you will find "CHMOD" or "attributes" option, just click that option to setting file's permissions.

otherwise, you can change the permissions by command:

Quote:
chmod [permissions] [filename]

for example: chmod 777 file1.txt file2.txt

How come that the permission on two directory's which I created can't be saved. They are set to 644, and I can't even delete those files. I've tryed to change permission's with filezzilla and in my direct admin.
