the best free AV ?

some friends told me that i need AVG but im not sure it's very effective
what's your opinion ??

I'm using Avast! and it's pretty good. Updates almost daily and I've heard it protects against more viruses than AVG. Worh a try I think.

Two years ago i used a AV software named AntiVir but it was pretty buggy and didnt want to work properly. then i started to search for a better free av software and i Found AVG and after that i have always used it its the best just try it and you will see Smile

My top 3 :
1. AV AntiVir: it just detects everything... and it alerts you when the thing is actually entering your system, not when it is to late, like Norton does.
2. AVG: this is the one I am using right now, because of a little upload problem some time ago with AV AntiVir. It's nice, very nice.
3. Avast: Crappy program.

Bitdefender: I have never used this program. I can't tell you anything about this anti virus.

I use BitDefender, nice romanian antivirus.

I have a little experience with dealing with malicious code and their associated anti malcode programs.
All the above mentioned free programs are good.
Avast being the best in my mind for Windows.
And FProt being the best for Linux OSs.
Although these programs are good it is well worth the money to buy a commercial product.
I personally use 'VET' by Computer Associates, and would recomend any of CAs products.

i agree on avg but i must say i had a virus that got through the other day.
