Multiple Gtalk Account Simultaneuosly

rjraaz
I have two different Gtalk account and both ids At same Time.

you think now how it is possible, ok i am going to tell you about it.

A Shortcut of Gtalk is having target like C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe

Here we have to just change target somewhat like C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe /nomutex

Here /nomutex is the command argument:

for your all simplification here the steps:

1. Right-Click on any shortcut (i have done with desktop shortcut).
2. From context-menu select properties.
3. Go to shortcut tab!
4. Edit target as " C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe /nomutex
"
5. Apply changes and just click on that shortcut everytime u want to run a new instant of GoogleTalk.

No, it also works for windows 7 i am also have windows 7,

actually in windows 7 google talk installs in appdata directory and you just copied as in my last post paste it there that was just for xp, since google talk installs in program files in xp.

so you can change your shortcut target instead of

" C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe /nomutex

to

"C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe /nomutex"

Change "User Name" with your "PC username" .

i hope you understand if you get any problem just ask here.

Also reply if you get success.

How is it useful? What is the benefit of having multiple gtalk account active at the same time in one PC, unless you have to talk to yourself?

Some of my work friends are given only my work gmail address, so that I can log out, go invisible or put up work related status messages. And chat with them with a decently named username.

My other account is for close friends and my best buddies, and I can put up whatever I want there and is strictly out of bounds for anyone else.

That is probably because of the space in the folder name.

Just put double-quotes on both sides of the shortcut and it will work fine.

Easiest way to add this is

1. Right click on an existing, working Gtalk shortcut (on desktop or quick launch or all programs)
2. Properties > Target
3. Put the cursor on the end of the target inside the box.
4. Add /nomutex before the last double-quote " (remember there is a space( ) before /nomutex
5. Done. Next time, just use this shortcut
