I am using a Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv7 laptop with Windows 7. I am attempting to do an archive search at http://www.mercurynews.com/archive-search when I get my desired results I have clicked on the hyperlinks in Firefox 3.6.3, Opera (not sure how to tell the version), and Google Chrome 5.0.375.127. I know for a fact that I have the default setting of Javascript enabled in Firefox and am not aware of having changed the defaults in my other browsers. When I click on the link in a new tab to see a story, I get the following error message: "Your browser does not have Javascript enabled. In order to view articles, you need to enable Javascript." When I just click on the link without asking for a new tab, I get the "Archive Sign-in" page. I do not have a membership, but am wondering why I get the javascript error when I try to view in a new tab.
