Ok this is really weird

phileplanet
I was putting some files on my account via FTP and I went to the public_html folder. I noticed this folder called "http:" (http://www.phileplanet.frihost.net/http:/). I went into that folder and there was another folder called "www.xangelo.com/" (http://www.phileplanet.frihost.net/http:/www.xangelo.com/). That folder was empty but i put neither of them there. It couldn't have been me because the date modified of the http: folder was October 5th, while I was still in October 4th. Can someone explain this?

Wow, that is pretty strange. I doubt that this has happened, but it is concievable that someone figured out your password and started uploading stuff to your account. I doubt this is the case, but I recommend changing your password for safe sake.

But see that's the thing. There's nothing there. It's just that folder.
Actually I should have mentioned this earlier but the guy who owns www.xangelo.com is a friend of mine. He doesn't even know about cPanel and I know he's not that kind of person.

I don't know. Perhaps you did it in your sleep. lol, just kidding.Razz It's beyond me as to how those folders appeared there for you.

I know I put some of my stuff up there periodically so that he could have a look at it but I don't remember using the folder name www.xangelo.com and I would NEVER make a folder named "http:".

It is possible that something went wrong with the FTP client you were using, but I don't know. Just trying to keep options open.
gonzo
which ftp client?

Because you couldn't have created a directory with a colon from within cPanel

FileZilla

That is really strange, because I have never had any problems with Filezilla in that area. I have however, had trouble uploading stuff (it would only partly upload stuff rather than whole files). If the problem persists, try WS_FTP.Very Happy

I only use FileZilla because I think people were having problems with ftp and someone said FileZilla is the only one that worked. Plus I can put it on my portable hard drive and take it with me. I doubt the problem was with FileZilla.
