I'm considering completely ditching my Hotmail account for IM (right now I use Gmail for email and Hotmail for IM (in Ubuntu)) but it's getting annoying using two separate accounts so I'm thinking about configuring Pidgin for Google Talk and getting rid of MSN. I know that I can add @hotmail.com contacts to a Google Talk account, but can MSN users using Windows Live Messenger on Windows add my @gmail.com address as a contact?
when you said you add @hotmail.com to google talk, does it mean:
1. that @hotmail.com is a google account?
2. microsoft live/passport account?
i don't think you can add microsoft live/passport account to google talk. i just tried. gtalk instead display an invitation to that @hotmail.com address.
you can add other domain if that domain is using google apps, and gtalk is activated for that domain.
to add @gmail.com to msn, just register a new microsoft live/passport account using your @gmail.com and the other person can add the newly created microsoft live/passport account to their msn.
i've been using non @hotmail.com for my microsoft live/passport account since like 10 years ago.
