A Whale skimmer arrives in the Gulf

standready
This massive oil skimmer that is 3 1/2 football fields in length arrived in the Gulf. Problem is BP nor the US Coast Guard asked for it. It's owner just brought it in. Bold move expecting someone to him for it's use. It is unproven has to whether it will really work. I would say to the owner "You want to test it, go ahead, at your own expense. If it works, we might pay you."

Here is a link to one story about the vessel:

If this whale works, more should be built and put on station around the world's undersea oil fields.

Well, there's not really anything else in the world you could occupy a giant oil-skimmer doing.
Might as well have it doing something useful, rather than sitting at a dock somewhere.

Maybe he's doing it just to keep the oil he skims up ^.^
Stuff's not cheap, and there's plenty of buyers around!
