Yep, allegdly it's not humans only that are bent upon sending the planet into oblivion -- cows are part of the plague, too!

France's 20 million cows account for an astonishing 6.5 percent of national greenhouse-gas emissions, according to his estimates.
Each year, their belches send 26 million tonnes of these gases into the atmosphere.
Their faeces -- "dejection bovine," to use the poetic-sounding French phrase -- account for another 12 million tonnes.
Compare that with the 12 million tonnes of gas emitted by French oil refineries, demonised by greenies as climate-killers.
Nor is bovine gas just any old gas.
It comprises methane and nitrous oxide, which volume-for-volume are 21 and 310 times more effective at trapping solar heat respectively than boring CO2.
By itself, methane is to blame for a fifth of the man-made greenhouse effect of the past 200 years. |
As a solution to this new ordeal, I propose that we start manufacturing hybrid cows.

I heard about this, and was arguing about it in my Ap Euro class. We argued that cows are putting off too much Co2 but there is no way to fix it and in the end we just have to deal with it. It's a little sad that if there was a problem we would end up paying for our own mistakes of cows and co2 but they put off alot, and I only hope it ownt affect us in the future.
i agree in this matter, but cows ensure indeed many greenhouse gases. The greenhouse gas which produces a cow is methane. For this reason science must find something that ensures that this production of methane decreases rapidly.

The fact that cows create large amounts of methane gas is not new. To be clear, methane gas which comes from the cows, while indirect, is still man-made. There's only one reason why there are a lot of cows out in the world folks... I would argue that since they create large amounts of methane gas, we should be able to harness some of this energy. Recycle it somehow and create larger hydrocarbons with it. I'm not sure of cost-effectiveness but jeez... if a cow literally burps (and farts) out fuel, why aren't we jumping on this (we 'milk' them for everything else)!

That's because I meant it as a joke.
The idea of anthropogenic global warming is just as ridiculous as the idea of cow-made global warming.
I don't see how we can escape the global warming issue, if All of the countries on earth aren't aware of it's impact. Look at the late hurricane (katrina), which is blamed caused due from the effect of the global warming..
It's just a matter of decades, perhaps a couple of century (at most) before our earth runs out of fossil fuel and we would probably die of the global warming far before we run out of fuel ..
It's an issue that all countries should (at now) concentrate in the development of alternative energy, not putting $ in defense systems, that's just like saying ..we'd rather die in war .. duhh ..
Without everybody hand in hand helping to build the technology and improve also implement (especially in small countries >> SAMPLE : MY COUNTRY: Indonesia !! DOn't ask about the freakin' gas emission here, they don't care if it's black or white .. sound like an MJ song .. hehehe) ..
So .. till someone up in the high hierarchy of the government start gettin' too much tan on weekends to actually realize what's goin' on and do somethin' .. we might as well burn ourselves. ..

Ya know some science is also blaming methane gas release on the bermuda triangle and the ships and planes that disappear when they go there.
Woa! Cows are the greatest <3, even if they'll make us die sooner!
