What do you guys think I need to install

or Windows XP

For Linux, I've been playing around with Ubuntu. It's Debian based and it's pretty somewhat simple. You can download it from their website or order CD's from them for free. You can check them out at http://www.ubuntulinux.org/. They tend to update every 6 months and just recently, I believe they just released a new version too. Ubuntu also has an excellent support community.

Well, Thanks alot..

Can I install it and run both xp and linux?
kv
Yes you can. You can either use linux bootloader or there are other bootloaders which support multiple os that you can use. Make sure you have a small fat partition in which you install win98 as a fallback option.

if i remember right most linux distros suggest installing windows xp first, then using the included partitioner in linux to create a dual boot system...

linux vs. windows

depends on what your wanting to do, linux IS better in many ways, but familiarity with windows deserves some considering (which will be more productive?)

i agree ubuntu is a good choice.
