iPad has more functionality than Kindle.
With the iPad, you can read books, work on documents, and I believe with the microsim, make calls as well, apart from browse the internet with 3G subscription, or use the wifi, when hotspots are available.
You can use it as a music player, take notes, jot down stuff, or even bookmark pages on documents you are reading.
I believe that it should make a great gaming device as well, the way I see games being played on the iPhone.

Kindle is mainly just for reading books, but the iPad has much much more features.
I think the Kindle is a bit pricey though; I mean its about $259 which is about half the price as the iPad, but it doesnt do as much as the iPad.

If you only need an e-reader, just get a kindle. Otherwise, go with the iPad.

The screen on the kindle is amazing. If I was to choose based upon screen, usability, and use it for reading books definitely go with the Kindle. But if you want a something to go on the internet with get the Ipad.

The iPad is basically a large screen version of the iPod touch, so you'll get email, browsing, IM, music, video, ebooks, and tons of apps. The Kindle is only for ebooks. If you only want it for reading ebooks, go with the Kindle. If you also want the other features get the iPad.

Ipad all the way, there's so much more you can do with ipad.
You can play games surf the web, get your emails watch a movie.

IPAD AND IPHONE FTW

The only advantage with the kindle is that you don't break your eyes watching the screen of the device.

Kind of apples to oranges here.
I mean the iPad has web browsing and tons of multimedia, whereas the Kindle is a great e-reader (low power consumption, read in sunlight). The Kindle is more special purpose than the iPad so it really comes down to what you want.

The Kindle is designed for a specific audience; that audience that wants to download their books and read them on the go. The iPad is a multimedia network tank with a lot of power, and a lot of possibility. You've got the App Store, with literally thousands of apps. Almost any media (excluding Flash) can be viewed on the iPad.

you cant compair the two.... one is a e-reader.... one is a large ipod touch

If you want to do anything other that read e-books, get the iPAD

yeah, it's not that useful to compare this two gadget and say which is better one, because the two are designed for (though not completely) different purpose. Kindle is mainly for reading books (thus the super long battery time and unique display which is "not hurting" eyes, and readable under the sunlight). Ipad on the other hand is more for multimedia like browsing websites, watching videos and photos, and playing simple games. So depend on your needs, you eventually may even decide to buy both, lol.

Well that's sort of a stupid question. If you just want to read then get the Kindle. If you want to do more then just read then get the Ipad. ( I am totally against Apple products, so yea. )

eBook reader, Kindle does not compare. $185 for wifi and free 3G? Great deal, for what it does.
