Dark_Jedi06
Saving my money for other games and the Revo.

I might get it when the price drops.
SilverDogg
not interested at the moment. im looking at nintendos direction at the time. but if i were to buy one of the other two (xbox360 or ps3) it would definitly be the xbox360.
Motoracer380
i sure as hell am.. its gonna kick MAJOR ASS
Kelcey
waiting until a few games that interest me make their way to the system. So, no for now.
Monkeydog
Strangely enough the only next-gen game I am interstead will be on it, TES IV:Oblivion, but I hate the Xbox witha passion.
I'll probably won't buy a next-gen console untill 2007 anyways considering that the only 2 I do want could mess up horribly.
The Rev could suck.
And the Sony consoles never start off to well.
Deji
im not gonna rush out and buy one ... might wait a bit to see what the games are like.
jarcelao
well, for me, i'll still wait until elder scrolls: oblivion is released. that game is one hell of a game and i can't wait to play it.. Very Happy
Haku
Yeah, im gonna buy it.
Never had XBox but i'll defenetly buy the 360.
It's bad that you can't play the games online for free.
Natrualkiller
Consoles are so useless PC are so much better and will never become out dated
alextweewielers
I already own a XBOX. When I can use the XBOX 360 as a media center for streaming MP3's and mpeg4's from my PC. I definetly will buy it.
jozsi1983
Is the Xbox 360 going to come out with a keyboard and mouse? I saw the games that are going to come out and I really like the FPS. But I suck at first person shoots with a game contoler. If anyone has a link or a pic of the keyboard or moust that would be great. Thanks for your time. Wink
ManKind Monster
no, becuase it didn't sale in my country. Sad
Kelcey
PCs become outdated... what are you talking about? They don't become outdated if you fork over more money to upgrade which is identical to purchasing a new console.
KungFuChris
I'm a little worried about the pricing structure that they've put on it. I mean... is anyone actually going to buy the 'basic' version. Surely it's a bit pointless?
Kelcey
Yeah, it's stupid, but of course that just means everyone will get the 400 dollar one. Only undeducated or extremely cheap people will get the 300 one and later, spend crap loads of money to get the hd and what not.
squeakypants
xBox 360: if I win it or find a good deal
Ps3: same as x360, but I want one of these more
NRevolution: Hells yea!
Kitsune
Why would you people spend 300~ on a console!??!

Just go buy a killer pc and wait for the games you want to come out on pc...

Ecspecially when it's the Xbox, when almost all it's games are ported to the computer.
I'd make sense to spend money on a Revolution,PSP,or a DS and not have a kick ass computer...but the Xbox really never made any sense to me.

But once in a while for the Xbox a game won't get ported PC side, like Halo2... =/
While the GCN and PS2 usally have their games not ported to the PC, ecpecially the GCN.

No im not going for the xbox 360. I wait untill Sony comes up with her Playstation 3. That is because it seems to be better, i always played with playstations and it supports Blu-Ray Very Happy

This looks like a typical scam but a friend of mine opened my eyes to a way of obtaining an xbox 360 for a cheap price.
It's like the free iPod offer but his one is for getting a xbox 360.

It's 100% free to sign up, you just have to complete one online offer (which will cost you no more than £30).

Then you refer 5-10 friends to do the same, (i think it's 10 for the xbox and 5 for an iPod Nano) and as soon they all complete online offers too, you'll be sent an xbox 360.
One of my colleagues swears by this and has already received about 3 iPods and has already qualified for his xbox 360 so will get it when the xbox 360 is released.

If you would like to sign up for an xbox 360 (or an iPod Nano), and look into some of the offers you need to complete, please go to the following links.

http://www.freebiefreebie.com/index.php?r=18364

http://ipodnanos.freepay.com/?r=22644687

Remember, just refer everyone you know and some of them are bound to give it a go, especially when you stand to gain something as cool as the xbox 360 or an iPod Nano.
thekman82
Im interested in the Xbox 360 but not too interested in the price! I've heard a lot of speculation on teh web about the price but any one have any ideas how much its going to cost in the UK?
mrzogg2001
I beleive the xbox 360 with the 20GB hard disk will cost £270 and without it it'll be £209.
Herbz3
I will definitely buy a 360, and i will definitely buy all of the games that will come out for it, and i will definitely buy anything that they make for it because the 360 is basically a replacement computer, and since my computer sucks monkey b@lls, I WILL BUY!

Plus, Halo 3 is only coming out for the 360, so got to get that....
Wd_removed
I'm saving for a Revolution. I'll pre order. I'm a die hard nintendo fan.
JagatWorld
Iam tring to get an XBox emulator............

how about that ?

will it work on my P4 3.0 ht ?? Very Happy

( I cant again afford for XBox ....... its very costly here...... )

I'm doing the same thing, but I don't know if it's in the rules to be posting your referral link here. That's up to the mods.
FireFoxDB
Yup i gonna buy one! But not at the release ( i don't think i have enough money at 2 dec. ) Because it's costs here 400 euro's. And a Euro is like $1.20 - $1.40

I want PGR3! ( because it rocks like Gonzo does )
Sandcrawler
i dont see anything that really stands out with it... it's just like the last three of them and has nothing new for gameplay i'll be bying the Nintendo one on the first day...cause it's remote control controller interests me...and ever scence Sega was bough out my Microsoft i have had to go with Nintendo... here is a neat vid i found of the guy from Attack of the Show sharing his views on the XBox 360 Here
Monkeydog
First off....there has only been one Xbox.
Second...Sega was not bought out by Microsoft(were the hell did you hear that???)
And last...I would wait for the Rev cause it could be a huge miss(although it's the only one that'll get far if it isn't a miss).
Although the Rev is the one I'm getting Smile
TheBeekeepers
I might eventually buy it, after the price drops. The only game that I'm looking forward to on the XBox 360 is TESIV: Oblivion anyway. I'll probably just spend my money upgrading my computer for now.
Kaisonic
I'm definitely going to get the Xbox 360 at some point. I probably won't be one of the people standing outside Toys 'R' Us at midnight the day of the release; I'll probably just get it for Christmas or something. The main reason I'm getting it is Perfect Dark Zero. Ever since the generation of systems after the N64, I've been waiting for a Perfect Dark sequel. I've already seen some videos and it looks freakin' awesome. I just can't wait. Graphics look wonderful and I already have Xbox Live. Freakin awesome... And I forgot to mention that I think there's more functionality on the 360 (like music and stuff, I dunno I heard something awesome about it somewhere...)
Tobbie
dont know if its wort the money in the beginning but defenetly when the price drops
TeK
I plan on buying one as soon as possible. I'm really looking forward to Kameo and Lost Odyssey
johnyfitz
yes. I already have an xbox and 50+ games for it, so i see no reason in switching to a ps3, or worse, rev. Laughing
thefluffyhamster
The xbox 360 has everything that you ever need, the ps3 has more processing power, but comes out later and, there is not much need for that much processing. The xbox has enough to keep the games neat, clean and crisp while avoiding system errors and game freezes.

Of course, anouther reason for the xbox 360 is Halo3...
BulletProof
i might buy the xbox 360...but then i have some feeling that its gonna suck...cuz y buy a xbox 360 when its almost like a computer. except that a computer is way better Smile
kaikou
I may buy it when the price goes down, but right now the PS3 is looking better to me, anyway, because I have a lot of PS and PS2 games already.

Some people would rather go for the simplicity of having a console that boots up and plays all their games without any mess without fussing about hardware requirements and retarded drivers.

Plus PCs are hardly any use for party use. Owns in online gaming, but it's much funner to have a 4 player split screen FPS/Racing game going on with a couple of friends over. Lanning does the job, but why would you spend your life savings on a couple of computers when you can spend 300 on a console that would do ? Of course your friends could bring their own PC/Laptops .. but that's just geeky.
squeakypants
I played it, and it's not as great as they make it look on TV. I have a feeling PS3 will be much better (and I'm not saying as an opinion, I mean hardware/graphics). See this.

Plus they're both $300-$400 (expectantly). I'm gettin me a nice less than $200 Nintendo Revolution (looks amazing).
izimngcubes15
I think the 360 is cool-looking, but it's too expensive and it's not fun. I don't like Xbox at all, not really. Bill Gates just want more money, that greedy person! Razz
rip8fan1
My Wal-Mart has a Xbox 360 set up that you can play! I'm not sure the exact title of the game that is set up, but it had King Kong fighting a T-rex. Graphics were awesome!

I will not be buying the 360 when it comes out, and maybe not even when the price drops. I cannot believe that it is not backward compatible with ALL the games, and if I have to buy an entire new library of games, I figure I'll wait until the PlayStation 3 comes out and see about switching!
danglyballs
I am definitely getting the xbox 360, got the xbox love it so much, its legend but im a little worried that 360 is in over it heads because i been reading loads of posts from loads of sites and people who have played have been saying that its crap so hopefully its just the beginning. but i little hope because ive seen screens and videos TEV: oblivion DAMN!!!! and they look immense,

and anyway back to the story, ye peps saying it was rubbish but then a bloke came in and said those games they were played were only use 1 core and there are 2 more at hand. Its gonna b sexy! and really and hoping that its aint like ps2 and xbox but reversed i.e 360 rubbish grpahics(more games) ps3 amazing (less games). only time will decided. BUT DAMN I CANT WAIT Exclamation Twisted Evil Laughing Surprised Cool

i think i wont, Crying or Very sad i dont have the money to buy the xbox 360 and here in my country its not well recognised, so i have to buy it from the usa. But, and always is the but, i think it would hit the world even more that the playstation 2 and nintendo gamecube,..................... well im looking forward the day i can buy xbox 360!!!

see ya
AardvarkSagus
I am not sure which one I want more. On one hand the XBOX 360 is coming out sooner and will have Halo 3 but PS3 has the ability to output to 2 screens simultaneously. Instant LAN Party with only one system! That to me seems a little better idea than still forcing multiple system purchases.
Monkeydog
The PS3 might not be able to play used or rented games. Who knows, mabye it will...I hope Sony doesn't do that.
The XBOX360 is soooo going to fail, the XBOX isn't too popular and it's the first one out the door, and the first one out the door almost always dies.
asmiller08
I played the 360 at gamespot, and it was really sweet. The controllers are awesome and ergonomic, the games (Battlefield 2 and King Kong) seemed well designed, and the graphics are better than most videogames I have seen. The same controllers are also being made for PC, which probably means the games will be too. My computer is allready powerful enough to run new games top quality (and cost me quite a few dollars), so hopefully I'll be playing some 360 games on my pc. Anybody have any word about this?
nOScott
Im going to get The PS3 Very Happy . I was never a xbox fan and probley never will be.
pacificstorm
maybe yes maybe no gotta see if psp is more worth of xbox hee... thou psp is portable which suits me ahhaha...

I will wait till the mod chips are available Very Happy
mrmaxt
yes i will definately buy it and have already preordered one
lockwolf
I probably will end up getting one within the first 90-120 days

Did you hear that some guy got handed his Xbox 360 to him by Bill Gates Himself for being the first person to buy an Xbox 360 at a Best Buy? I could have been that guy!
hodgenpodg
My answer. Yes I'm definitely going to buy it. The catch...not for a while because its simply just too expensive for me at the moment and I have other things I need to buy before that, but after a couple of months (hopefully when the price drops) I should be able to afford. I'm really quite upset about having to wait too because one of my favorite games is on Xbox 360....Project Gotham Racing 3...I've owned and beaten the other two and just love them soo much.

Hi,

There are many things that microsoft must change before their xbox brand be #1. Personnaly, I don't want an xbox 360...

I will be sticking to my PC, i just payed a load to get a new 1 4 xmas, i aagint gonna be buying a console 4 a while

Yes but not till Next summer I imagine due to the price at the moment and avaliability is slim to none until Feb/March.

I'm over on Camp Humphrey's in South Korea. I just bought a X Box 4 days ago. They only had one game available when since the release of the 360, NFL 2006. The 360 over heats. There is a recall in progress to repair the problem. BECARFEUL WHEN YOU BUY YOURS!!!

SOME 360s have been reported to be overheating; let's be clear on this. Look folks, all sorts of systems/products have bugs at launch. Do I NEED to point out the issues with the DS and PSP?? I'm not saying it's a good thing, but hey, I rarely if ever buy a product like this at launch, especially at a $400 price point.

I don't know where you may be getting your PC hardware from, but I don't know of ANY "killer" PC to cost less than $1000. Can you get a relatively DECENT PC for the same price as a 360? Sure, but you'd likely have a crap video card and probably under 512mb of RAM. Look, Microsoft (and just about every OTHER console maker) takes a LOSS on their system hardware.
anhstar
No! Im gonna to wait for a next version or get PS3!
PS3 has free online play and almost the same features as XBOX 360.

I already have to pay for my high speed, dont want to pay to play online with XBOX 360
moncader
the 360 is a rip off. 400 bucks and all you get is an upgraded version of the regular xbox. I've played it, it feels EXACTLY the same as the first xbox. It's graphics aren't as good as say, a computer (well mine anyways, geforce 7800GTX), and the playstation 3 graphics are WAAYY better, just looking at the demos at e3. Plus, 360 is actually loosing money on each box they sell. The cost to MAKE the 360 is more than 400, which is a serious problem, and therefore the price won't be going down anytime soon.

What I'm really waiting for is the nintendo revolution, with its AWSOME new controller and ability to download games from all the other previous systems. Have you guys checked out the new controller? Not just the looks, but what it does?

Uhhh EVERY manufacturer loses money on their consoles. Consoles are a loss leader for GAME revenue (and add-ons.) Also, those PS3 graphics you are touting are mockups or hires-cutscenes. No one has actually SEEN a PS3 game in action yet (except for maybe developers.) Also, the PS3 will most likely cost MORE than the 360 (in fact SONY has been saying this since E3, that it will cost in the neighborhood of $450-500!)

Look guys, it's OK to prefer one system or company over another, but other than the 360, none of us has seen what the other systems can DO yet. So instead of spreading spurious rumours and out-and-out misinformation, why doesn't everyone just WAIT and see what system is better?
Hanpusu-kun
I was in a local store today and tested it (it was released yesterday here in sweden).
I was like: WOOOW

Im surely going to try to get it as a christmas present, or else I may have to save money for one.
But im going to have one, sooner or later.
jinn666
The stock of xbox360 has run out in UK because of limited supplies. Im sure Microsoft can supply some more before xmas but wont for publicity. My friend was one of the lucky few that has preordered his xbox360 and got one.

MY Review:

Xbox360 console is much slimmer compared to normal xbox. Looks great. I love the wireless controllers, feels comfortable and has a good rubber quality feel to it. You turn the console on or off from the controller, so can be in bed playing a game and when you feel tired turnoff the machine with your controller.
I had played the following games on the console:

Project Gotham Racing 3

Call Of Duty 2

Perfect Dark Zero

Kameo: Elements Of Power

The best game is Perfect Dark Zero, the graphic is really good and gameplay (1st person shooter).

Nothing special about the rest of the games, I’m sure the normal xbox is capable enough to handle the same graphics.

Overall: I was not really impressed with the machine, it did not wow me, i could not see much difference between the graphic qualities of the xbox compared with xbox360.

Ill wait for PS3

Which Nintendo system are you referring to here?

Also, Nintendo, while often being "different" than it's competitors is rarely ever on the forefront of the technology curve (hence why their consoles MAY cost less to manufacture.) In fact, even if their consoles cost less, they generally RETAIL for less also, so I'd wager they're still taking something of a loss.

it looks nice, i played it alot at fry's electronics. however i hear that there are many problems with 10,000 units, so im not sure. maybe the ps3 will be better. i think the evolution will be hot though! lots of peolpe are going to buy the evolution because it's going to be innovative.

wow.. glad to see so much ppl will wiat for the ps3. But the ps3 will be alot more expensive especially with the new bluerays that they will sport. Yes at launch all big consoles have problems but I have heard the 360s are so bad that they will have to recall most of the units back!

All of them, Nintendo has never lost ANY money on their consoles.

The PS2 makes a profit too, now.

Uhhh do you have anything that backs that up? And I would imagine even IF the PS2 would now have some sort of profit margin, it would be so narrow as to be neglible. As I said, game systems aren't made to make money in and of themselves, they're designed as a loss-leader to sell highly marked up accessories and games.

I know a few articles on Gamespot say it. But, do to the lack of time, most I can get at the moment is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Console_wars#The_current_generation_era:_Sega_Dreamcast_vs._Sony_PlayStation_2_vs._Microsoft_Xbox_vs._Nintendo_GameCube
It says, the PS2 and GCN do lose money, but that's do to other factors(like,do to the lack of popularity of the GCN)

downloading the smash the xbox360 thing, hope its funny.
currently it doesnt have any killer apps, but the online component seems rather good

too bad its too expensive, no halo and not that great at the moment and i hate microsoft

gonna wait till it is moddable, is it yet??
wanna put linux on it like what i did with my xbox
it will be one cheap powerful pc

wanna see what happens when PS3 and revolutions are out
then it will be the best time to decide whats more worth it

the smashing of the xbox360 was pretty funny but there was like nobody around when taht happened!??! what happened to everybody man!?!?!? I wanna see every single faces of the first 50 people waiting for the damn xbox360!!

a bit disappointing

oh well, are they gonna do that for the ps3 and revolution as well?

Thanks. Actually I had heard the same thing from other people, it's just that I couldn't really find any articles saying one or the other.

I'm not trying to bash any consoles here (which is sadly more than I can say for quite a few people in this thread.) It generally tends to be whichever system has the best exclusive games/franchises that ends up on top, which is a sad thing, quite frankly, because I think with better support and a concerted effort (especially on the Japanese side,) the XBox could've been a real contender, instead of playing a poor second-fiddle to the PS2. So that being said, I will really reserve judgement until ALL the consoles are out (as should everyone.)

I wouldn't buy it. If someone gave it to me, sure I'd play it, but I wouldn't pay money for it. I'm not much for consoles anymore. I seem to require a mouse and a keyboard for even the simplest of games.

I know afew people that have been having trouble with their 360s, which is funny considering that they can just call J Allard and tell him so. For the most part they've had the good taste not to, but if the problems continue it is likely that he will be recieveing some pretty nasty calls.

The original XBOX launch was fraught with the worst defects of any system in history. Some units didn't turn on because they were MISSING PARTS! Not little things, like removeable casing faces or silly stuff like that, but big things like power supplies or processors. Microsoft is famous fo their Xbox launch troubles, they were a laughing stock the first time, and it looks like this launch will be no different. Even crappy DVD players made in third world sweatshops don't SCRATCH DVDs, yet the XBOX 360 does! That's crazy. As far as I know, all the systems have started up, though one guy has had the problem where the system shuts down, but that turned out to be a problem with one of his controllers; it kept sending the turn off message.

From what I've seen, the system is not worth the headaches, much less the money. I'd reccommend holding off until they pull out some games that are actually worth the price.

While I agree with your last assertation about waiting for better titles, I'm not sure that the original XBox launch had the WORST defects of any system. People sure do seem to have a really short term memory for this stuff. The PS2 had all kinds of launch defects (from the drive not playing discs to numerous disc errors.) I'm not saying that either XBox launch is free from defects, but most systems have some sort of issues, especially systems that were rushed to release. Also, another important thing to note is that PS2s had issues that didn't appear at launch, but rather closer to a year later. Sure launch defects suck, but those defects that cause your system to quit a year from now (when you have a huge library of games) are quite possibly worse.

Also, just as a quick aside to people who are complaining about the lack of titles for the 360, bear in mind this is by NO means the worst number of launch titles for a system:
XBox 360: 18 titles (average review score - 78.4%)
XBox: 19 titles (74.2%)
Gamecube: 12 titles (78.8%)
Dreamcast: 19 titles (73.8%)
PS2: 32 titles (72.0%)
(stats courtesy of 1up.com)
I think it's ironic that while the PS2 had the MOST launch titles, the average score of those titles was lower (although that could be attributed to a few really crappy games.)

Anyway, as I've BEEN saying, how about we start slinging FACTS around here, rather than half-truths and blatantly unfounded rumours.
MrStone
The Xbox 360 is huge. Everyone knows this. Also, its powersource is huge too. I also have seen a list of the five electronics that made the most noise, two were laptops, one was the first generation PS3, the Xbox 360 was on the list and the Xbox 360's power source was also on the list. All of the games that are released on it are not really origional or specific to the 360. Ill just save my money and shelf space for the Revolution.
lineagetoday
ya xBox 360 is very big and loud not soo good for bringing it to friends house to play!! I heard that the nintendo revolution is going to be as cheap as 99$ for the actaul console.. can anyone confirm this?
Scaramanga
Oh and to all you people who were saying that Misrosoft wasn't going to be releasing anymore 360s until after Christmas; a line of people camped out outside my local BestBuy last night, says otherwise.

As for the $99 Revolution, read this article. At this point it's JUST a rumour, and as someone earlier in this thread pointed out, it looks like Nintendo doesn't generally take a loss on any of its consoles, so this would be a definite first for them. Of course, even if it WAS so cheap, that would pretty much mean the hardware was going to be crap compared to PS3 and 360.
Bamf
I pre-ordered one through GameStop. I'll never pre-order through them or Electronics Boutique (same company) again. They couldn't fill there pre-orders yet magically their GameStop.com site sold bundled packages (crammed full of the stuff no one wants but will take if its the only way to get one).

That being said, yes the DVD drive is REALLY loud. The graphics are better then the original and I haven't got my HDTV yet. They say if your not playing it on the 780p your not seeing it yet. (Compare to the store displays I do notice a difference)

Controllers are excellent, I thought I'd miss the "duke" controller. They thankfully dumped the black white buttons for a more play station feel (top of the controllers) So far, fingers crossed, no issues. I do have it laying down and Well ventilated. Hoping that helps out!

of course I won't Very Happy

Hardware doesn't make the game. =D
Plus, I beat the PS3 will have major errors, like ever Sony console, and the Rev will have few, like every Nintendo console.

Also, about the review thing, doesn't mean anything. All a matter of opinion, people rate FFX and Halo high, and I hate them.

Nope, but hardware WILL make the game LOOK better.

Also, on the 360 news front, I just thought I'd drop this little tidbit I came across. Japanese publisher AQ Interactive announced three titles for the 360: Vampire's Rain (also for the PS3,) Bullet Witch and Cry On (which MistWalker's Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu will have a hand in.) I think this bodes well for the 360 in Japan, in as much as it seems a LOT more developers are interested in the console this time around.

no way not untill that price goes down.. here it is 400 dollars USD for one with one wireless remote... OVERPRICED.

i'll keep an eye for both of them.

I was planning on getting the xbox360 until some of my friends told me about how it aint so good. Im thinking i might want to get the ps3 instead of the xbox360.
Splenge
Im definitely going to buy one. While they are expensive they will drop in price when the ps3 comes out. The PS3 and Xbox 360m are actually equally good consoles(though I hate to say it) but you could say that one looked better on paper but then you would be wrong because they go about being good in different ways. The games im most looking forward to are tes:oblivion and halo 3 which will not be released for PS3 for a long time. Also there are some rumours that microsoft were negotiating for exclusive rights for gta 6. This doesn't suprise me seeing as they already have bought out rare from nintendo.
cheatonmaps
i like games for pc too, but still i would want an xbox360. Computers wernt made for games, unlike consoles. games on the computer have to be saved on, taking up space and making your systym run slower. i occasionaly get games on the computer, but im still getting an xbox.

I always wait until the pricedrop, Plus the benefit that comes with it is that the console wouldn't go thru the problems the first version would. Plus the 360 was full of problems when it first came out, freezing, scratched disk ect.

Any one read the news on www.megagames.com Some really great news for xbox and gaming fans..
TGWAdmin
This is because the graphics chip is supposed to be better than the Xbox 360 chip. Sony is waiting on a chip from NVIDIA which will be better than the 360 chip. There have also been problems reported about the Xbox 360 freezing during gameplay. I think this is because Microsoft had rushed to release their product in time for the holidays. Sony is taking their time to make sure all of the bugs are fixed and to get a better graphics chip which will enable more capabilities on the PS3. But I guess we'll have to wait for the release in a few months.

i dunno whether the xbox is worth buyin coz the ps3's specs are AMAZING!!! but the xbox has xbox live and will definatly always be cheaper than the ps3.

by the way revolution sucks.

I got one is it the best console I have ever owned the graphics are so crisp no jaggies which a big relief cus the PS2 and Xbox suffered from jaggies badly!!!
adiutrix
seeing a post up a bit from this one.
(hardware doesn't make a game)

hardware makes your console. if the console has crap hardware its likely to wear out or not perform at maximum levels. for example.

You buy a computer worth, $500

Your mate buys one worth $1500

You know your mates will outperform yours in every aspect and continue
to outperform yours for way longer then yours will last.

also a note on the ps3, sony are in a bit of a tight position atm with the music problem, and there seems to be a ever widening wait for the ps3.

From this you can tell i fully support the xbox 360. but hey who wouldn't when you gettin 1 in 2 days
AzTeK
I think the xbox 360 is already showing the un-experience that microsfot has selling console systems. Alot of thing about the x-box are awfull like:
1- Can't play old xbox games (Must suck not to be able to play your old favorite games and if it will require people to carry around an xbox and an xbox 360... Who whants to do that?,)
2- Bad System Design- In the US alot of xbox 360's had to be re-called because of the design made some of the games crash (CD-tray is buggy)
I think anyone interested in an xbox 360 should save their money for the PS3 Very Happy
adiutrix
You said that you can't play old xbox games on the xbox360. Infact you're wrong. There is a whole list of original xbox games that you can play on xbox360.
Also for games that arn't on the list you can download rom xbox live (free silver account).
Plus xbox has capabilities to connect to microsoft operating systems that no other console can have.

p.s. who created this argument because no matter what, what people go in saying they will most probably come out saying the same thing. Wink

Console and PC gamers have long been divided into two camps. Sure, there are those of us who play on multiple platforms, but hard-core PC gamers tend to be, well, hard-core PC gamers and eschew "mainstream" console games, while committed console gamers can sometimes be heard bashing PC gamers as elitist nerds. While there's nothing wrong with drawing your own distinction, what's clear--at least for the moment, anyway--is that Microsoft's Xbox 360 makes the line between PC and console gaming a lot fuzzier. Yes, this is a console, with game controllers and A/V cables that are designed to interface with your TV--preferably of the HD variety--but Microsoft has essentially packed a high-end PC gaming rig into a relatively small box that fits into any A/V rack or cabinet. That the Xbox 360 also has a user interface that rivals TiVo's in terms of slick presentation and ease of use, plus a host of digital media and networking features, helps elevate the already-good Xbox experience to a whole new level. Naturally, the 360 is not without its flaws, and since many of the launch titles are simply rehashes of their PC or console counterparts, we'll have to wait another year or so before we get to see what game developers can truly accomplish. By then, Sony should be ready to counter with its next-gen powerhouse, the PlayStation 3. Whether it will be better is anybody's guess. But all we can say is that Sony better hurry because the Xbox 360 will be a hard temptation for gamers to resist for too long, even priced at $399.

I wana get an Xbox 360. They look prity cool. I love playing it. The graphics are amazing. I love everything about it. The controler is easy to use and etc. Except.... I will get one later... Like when the scratching of disks problem, runtime errors, and etc. are fixed. Also... I CAN"T WAIT TILL HALO 3
papamurphy
I bought one on eBay for 500. Well 450 and 50 shipping, but still...Anyway I am an impatient person when it comes to video games, so I had to have one. I WILL wait on PS3, because the PS2 and PSP had a lot of faulty hardware when they were released. If it is released, and no problems then I will pick it up, otherwise I will wait until some bugs have been worked out. On a side note I will get the Revolution on day one Wink.
ForceRun
I say get a computer, 10 times more useful, 1000 times the number of games, and monitors are better than most peoples TVs, the controllers of any platform can't hope to complete with the control of a mouse, keyboard, and full size joy-stick. If you still want a TV system, get the PlayStation 3, Nvidia graphics are tons better than the XBox ATi System Idea
=ALiEN-SK=
I definitely.... will NOT be buying one. The reason for this is as stated before i have always been a Playstation fan and nothing you will say is gonna change that. EVEN BILL GATES RELEASING HALO 3 WHEN THE PS3 COMES OUT (Which i dont think is true anymore tho!). Anyways yeah i think that the 360 is a joke and it has 2 many glitches and i hate it.

I am gonna wait for the PS3 coz i think its a helluva lot betta that that piece of crappy machinery (Xbox 360).

Microsoft have rushed into this one and have crammed woteva they could find into a box in to shorter time. People are still buying the original so why bring out another so soon. The PS2 has been around for ages and that has gone well. Sony is taking time with this thing to get the best results out of it and for it to be a best selling console.

When this thread first started, I already had the reserve paid off for 3 months. Gamestop being Gamestop, I got it late January. It wasn't until later when I took it on LIVE and found how truly awesome it really was.

There are several reasons it defeats last-gen consoles. Ever notice you never see "Custom Soundtracks" on the back of a 360 game box? all you have to do is hit the guide button anywhere in-game to select from genre, artist or album. On any game. That and several other user-friendly features have kept me happy with my 360. Xbox Live Arcade, Marketplace, and almost every single game being Live compatible. Well worth the almost $500 and few month wait.

XBOX 360 RULES! I am a huge xbox fan. I got mine a little late, around christmas, but it's still amazing non the less. Even on my little tv, the graphics are simply amazing. I compaired Halo 2 on the old xbox, and on 360, and all I have to say is DAMN. Plus all the little tiny features makes it all worth while. In my opinion, it's the best consol ever, and I can't wait to see what they cook up next!

I'm the with the other guys. Why spend money on a XBox 360 when I got a sweet Gaming Rig PC. I got a bigHD TV with 900Watt 5.1 system, and on the weekends I hook my computer up with DVI and holy sweetness it is beautiful. I had Call of Duty 2 longer and It is ten times better than the Xbox just because I have a mouse, WOW. FPS don't work off the PC, once you play counter-Strike you just can't go back. If you just want to play, and don't mind giving up real fps gamin, than the Xbox is a okay deal.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

It's awesome, the world is HUGE! I played around 100 hours and the main quest isn't finished yet.

There's many guild you can join:
Arena - fight à la Gladiator
Thief - well, it's obvious
Dark Brotherhood - You have to kill an innocent person to join them
Mage - You'll be able to access the most powerful spells
Fighters - Pretty boring, IMO

1. Fair enough. You're allowed to make claims. So I'm gonna ask you to back it up. First, explain the 360 processor architecture. Second, explain the PS3 processor architecture and show how they're nearly exactly the same in every way. Second, do it with their respective ATI and Nvidia cards. By the way, the PS3 graphics card had less shader power than the 360's card if you think I'm biased with Sony on my side.

2. I'll agree as far as that this is the worst playstation controller ever. It has loss of rumble and I could care less about the tilting sensors. However, *I* and lots of others feel like it's one of the best controllers layout wise. The new 360 controller is much improved. I only have one gripe with it, and that's the dpad. It has the exact same problem that the first xbox had. It's a friggin' circle. You push forward on it, you jump in a 2d game.

3. They both have 512 megs of total ram.

4. Yeah, and Sony and Nintendo have their own online services. What's your point? The fact is you'll be playing with annoying bratty kids on all three. What's the difference between playing on a Sony or Microsoft network? You'll be able to play with your friends and have all that other random crap like friend lists and what not. Furthermore, it's been stated over and over though not completely officially confirmed that the PS3 will have free online gaming. That's certainly more enticing than paying for xbox live.

5. Look at my response in the PS3 thread.

ps can we post any news in this topic?

I'd say people would either suggest fight night 3 or oblivion at this moment.
Balthamos
Yes, definitely get Oblivion. It has already provided me with over 100 hrs of gameplay! Also, I would get Perfect Dark Zero if you would like an okay shooter. It's not the best, but it can give you some fun for a little bit, depending if you like it or not. Also, Call of Duty 2 is an excellent game, and I highly recommend it. If you liked the original, it's just as good. However, I haven't fancied the multiplayer as much...

I got my 360 on 2.december 2005. Which was the release date in norway. U think it's great. Lovely graphics, excelent controllers, über-good games and an kickass online syste, (xbox live).

I already have perfect dark zero, project gotham racing 3, GRAW and battlefield 2 modern combat. Next week im getting fifa world cup 2006.
360 is really a great buy, espessialy since ps3 and 360 are almost just as powerful, and ps3 will kill your wallet.

Depends on what good graphics are to you... Yeah it looks good. It doesn't look anything near MGS4, Gears of War, or Final Fantasy XIII (which I believe are the 3 best looking games in terms of console that we've seen so far). It certainly isn't ugly... but I wouldn't say it's a graphically impressive game.

Certainly arguable. They have different styles. To me, Gears of War looks like the battle of clay. As for MGS4, I hate that dusty tint on all their colors. I will say MGS4 has FAR better animation than gears of war while gears of war has more flash.

I'm not a big fan unfortunatly, I see no need for it if you own a good PC. The only reason X-box has got so big in my opinion is that it has become more like a PC. I could have a massive rant about this but I'm going to keep it short Laughing

I would think PS3 has become more like a PC come on? The guy him self who runs the game part of sony said they were more focused on making it a computer then a gaming system. You can surf the web, it has a OS built in come on they dont even care anymore for gmaing.

I'd purchase it if I could, but I simply don't have the funds necessary to obtain the 360. I've seen the graphics on some of its latest games, and they continue to amaze me to no end. I won't be getting a 360 for a while--not until the price drops a bit and some more games are released. Right now, it's reserved for anyone who likes to brag about it and being able to use HD. Seriously, does anyone care whether you're playing on a brand new 549" HD LCD or a dinky CRT from the 90s? I don't...

The only good games imo are Halo 3, Dead or Alive 4 (for obvious reasons Wink ), and Gears of War. I haven't heard much else that would stand out...

^ Actually some people mod their gaming systems to make them better and not cheat in games. I modded my old xbox so that i could have custom stuff like xbox media center and emulators since i dont go on xbox live with it anymore. my husband and I bought one for x-mas. I love it! it's our new dvd player and the graphics for every game we have bought has been the best so far! Hehe--I take back my previous statement about waiting for the price to drop. I sold my old Xbox and bought the 360, but not to find the angel of my dreams. Instead, I got a faulty model flashing "E74" upon startup. In case anyone else gets this, be warned that it is a hardware failure, and has nothing to do with the AV cable (because I know some people thought that was the cause). I could endure it for a while (because it started up successfully aftera few tries), but ended up sending it back for a new one.

Even now my headset is pretty screwy, so it didn't give me the best first impression, but the LIVE experience makes up for it. Wink

Why, why, why, why must devellopers keep making new expensive "wanna-buy" stuff? =)

The Xbox 360 graphiocs are awsome, I've seen it, and really, they're great. I just cannot afford it. Because buying an Xbox 360 without buying an HDTV is according to me a bit unnecessary...

The Xbox 360 needs an HDTV to show all of the graphics in the dominating way.

And the games, haven't heard about much of them, but since we're talking about games like Halo 3, they also must rock.

But, asI said, I simply cannot afford it =)

Hi guys. I can't wait to get a 360. I love the menus, OS, and most importantly the games! I think its awesome how MS is treating its 360 customers. The OS updates are mind-blowing and the added features such as HD-DVD, HD TV Shows and Movies and 1080p are just mind-blowing. The games are incredible and you get a complete next-gen experience for only $300 if you want. Plus the yr. head start has also been phenomenal with great games being available, tons of bug updates and plenty of time to add great features and peripherals. I won't be buying a PS3 for at leats a year because so far its so not worth it. It is bug ridden (much more so then when MS released the 360) the games suck since they are only sequels and only Resistance is good. The 360 had tons of great original games like Kameo when it was released. I can't wait for 07 because I am sure MS has some great aces up their sleeves. Oh and by the way. Before ya'll call me a MS fanboy, I am actually an Apple Mac, and all all things Apple, user! I just had to hand it to MS for bringing out a great console that looks fab (compared to the printer/bread-bin PS3!) has phenomenal games and has a beautiful OS!

I am going to get one simply because I don't want a Wii and the PS3 is way outside of my monetary range.

Gears of War is definitely a reason to have a 360. But yes, the drive is extremely annoyingly loud. Though it is quite nice to your ears when you turn it off and listen to the silence.

Gears of War is a very good, game, although I wouldn't hype it quite as much as other wbsites have.

In terms of graphics, it is undoubtably the best game at the moment. On an HD Tv, the detail in everything is quite astounding, and really lends and air of believability to it.

In terms of gameplay, again, Gears of War is good, but not great. Whilst it's fun, and quite hard in places, it occasionally degenerates to bog-standard boss fights and run-and-gun sections; and whilst good, they don't live up to the potential.

Finally, the multiplayer is very, very good. Hell, it's the only game to have surpassed Halo 2 as the most played game on Xbox Live.

Overall, it's a very good game; and one that I would reccomend to anyone with an Xbox 360.

Because of the success of Gears of War, there has been a rumor going around saying Microsoft will be interchanging sequels between Gears of War and Halo. That means since GoW debut this year and Halo 3 the next, GoW 2 will debut by 2008, Halo 4 by 2009, etc.

OK, so I got a 360 today ($200 for a premium! Microcenter.com), and I plan to order one game from buy.com before Christmas (so I can take advantage of the Google Checkout discount). I've got it narrowed down to a few ideas, but I'm also open to suggestions. No sports/racing. Ideally, I want something that's fun to play in 10-15 minute bites, since I really like that about Wii Sports. The "bites" don't have to be *that* short, but not something where you have to devote a minimum of an hour to a play session to get anything out of it...

My ideas are Chromehounds, BFME2, GoW, GRAW, Rainbow 6 Vegas, or Oblivion. I will probably place the order tomorrow or the next day.
ForceRun
I thought after everything that sony did to release the P3 with BLueray; the Xbox 360 comes out with the HD drive at the same time, lol.

I'm a little mad at Microsoft for keeping Halo 3 and Halo 2, and now Call of Duty 3 (Bad release or something) to the Xbox and not PC. Call of Duty is solely a PC game, how do you play a FPS with a game pad and not mouse and keyboard.

As far as the whole console wars go I say look for the true winner the PC. It gives more, has more, and is much better then any other platform out. Plus where as the consoles are hardware and software locked for the next 5 years or what ever the PC is always getting better. Get a gaming PC for Christmas and make everyone happy.
alexdude
I like the fact that out of the box the Xbox comes with the required connectors to play in HD and the fact that it supports Media Center 2005, but I’m going to go with PS3. The PS3 comes with WIFI factory installed and an internet explorer, and you can play all Play station games on it. Which gives it the biggest game library.
Ghengis
@alex: so, uh, you don't already have a PS2? Get a 360 in the next few days at a Micro Center ($200, if you are old enough to get a credit card) and a PS2 ($100 or so used), and you're still talking half as expensive as a PS3. You get the "biggest game library" from the PS1&2, plus a HD-ready console with its own hundred-plus game library, plus XBOX1 compatibility (mostly), plus the premier online gaming service -- I don't even game online, but I know enough to know that Sony really should have gotten their shit together for this generation, and failed. I think PS2 won the last generation hands down; I own one and it was the first console of the last generation I bought. Looking back, I wouldn't change that. But I just think Sony really dropped the ball this time around.

I think it might because it's a demo version, but you don't really see any demo version consoles except for the Nintendo ones... that's a little strange.

When the Xbox360 released, i had no intentions of buying it. Somehow i just felt like the PS3 would be a way better option. But then the PS3 gets delayed like 1 year and once it comes out there's no solid game to support its release. The Xbox360 however got Gears of War [GAME OF THE YEAR 2006] and many other good games including Halo 3. So, now my mind's changed, i'm seriously considering buying the Xbox360.

Seriously, there is little game support at the launch of any game console. I'm not saying your decision is right or wrong. And Gears of War is a 2nd Gen game, of course it'd be better than the launch titles. It's had time to get polished and there has been more experience with the 360 from the developers point of view.

I bought mine as soon as it came out and I love it, even though I got a wii too which is also very cool but different. Even though the graphics aren't as good as the PS3, the xbox 360 has great games unlike the PS3. For example Gears Of War, an amazing game with amazing graphics and the experience is just unbelievable...

the 360 doesn't have many things that the ps3 does. such as blu-ray technology. the biggest prob. 4 da ps3 is that it doesn't have many good games compared to da 360. will be buyin' da ps3 after price goes really down Confused .

I played the xbox 360 at my friend's house and i was dazed. the graphics are to die for and gameplay is not at all compensated. I am already saving up for it and trust me it is worth each and every single penny. PS3 eventhough is more powerful, it has lost this session of console wars due to its excessive price and over-delay of release. Lets see if sony manages to create the magic as it did with the ps2.
cruisearound
Ive always loved my old xbox & still use it on a regular basis. I will be getting the newer 360 but ill wait till the programers catch up with the potential power of this awsome beast. I didnt rush out & buy the previous xbox untill the game quality & power started to arrise.
My brothers just purchased his & ive been playing on his, im not impressed enough to rush out myself but looking at its obvious power i can see that it has a very shiny future ahead of it. Just been playing Lost Planet & it is very impressive indeed, the whole smoothness & graphical content is quite breathtaking to be honest but still not enough for me to throw 300 quid at it yet.
It will probably have dropped in price a fair bit by the time i do decide to opt for one as did the older xbox.
mynameis
I love my 360 its great fun,

I think the Ps3 is shunting its only Market (that is Family of course) and leaving it open to only people with large sums of money at hand usally people who have busy lives revoling round their job and don't really have time to play games especially long demanding games, the ps3 also lacks games that are quick and are easy to pick up and play..

I think that the reason that the Ps2 sold well is that they had a varity of types of games making the console suitable for everyone at a price most people can afford!

I think the 360 meets all gaming markets and has games to suit everyone its fun, its also not expensive, making, I think, it the BEST next gen console.

Its Funny that sony thinks that their Ps3's Power and Graphics will atract hardcore gamers but why should they buy a ps3 when they could employ the same power into their PC's!

oh and QrafTee how the hell is Gears of war a 2gen game??

go for the 360 dude... ps3 is making the mistake xbox did by concentratin on power n not game quantity and quality... xbox is cheaper and has a wider and more flexible genre of available games... go for it... you won't regret it
schooldays
I was planning to get this, but now the Wii has taken my interest, and I really only care for the 360 because of Halo 3. I'm planning on getting the Wii, and saving money until Halo 3 comes out, at which point I can get them both at the same time.

The 360 isn't as innovative as the Wii, so it doesn't interest me much. Still, miles better than the awful PS3.
Ghengis
I got a 360 at the end of last year, but I only have two games at this point -- Viva Pinata and LotR BFME II. There's a lot of games out since it launched a year before the other two new-gen consoles, but I don't know what to get. Some thoughts:

+ No sports.
+ Nothing too graphically violent (e.g. GoW) since my 1-year-old watches me play most of the time
+ I like RPGs (I know, I'm pretty well screwed), and epic/stylish platformers or hack-n-slash, like Devil May Cry

I considered Chromehounds, but heard that the single player is a bit weak, and that XBL multi is dying out. I'm thinking of getting Tomb Raider Legends, and might get Crackdown when it drops next month. Otherwise... I'm having a hard time finding good titles. Older games are nice -- some of them have been through a price drop Wink
mynameis
I've got the Crackdown demo off xbox marketplace and i've got to say its pretty good, I like the way that its not like GTA in that your not living a human life and don't need to have food and a girlfriend lol can't believe that appeared in GTA san andreas and also that your working for the police but still like GTA its not boring like other games that make you play morally and the superhuman powers can add up to some amazing combo ownage! The fact that the game comes loaded with a copy of the Halo 3 beta to boot just puts the gaming cherry on the top... so I'm definitely buying that!
Smile Smile Smile
Ghengis
Yeah, I had gotten the impression from early press that Crackdown was basically going to ride on the strength of the bundled beta, but I too was really impressed with the demo -- I played through it like 3 times straight. I loved getting 4 stars of strength and kicking people to death in a single shot. I don't think I got enough to throw cars, unfortunately -- I'm looking forward to that Wink
bhzh
Ghengis, Maybe try 99 Nights? A lot of people hate that game but I thought it was pretty cool. What about Blue Dragon?
Ghengis
Blue Dragon is on my list -- it comes out June 1 according to Wikipedia. I was kind of looking for something *now*. I tried the demo for 99N... it looked pretty cool, but I've found that hack-n-slash games almsot always get a bit old if you're playing alone. I had Baldur's Gate 1&2, two of the PS2 Dynasty Warrior games, and the Kingdom Under Fire knockoff (Crusaders?), among others. I never spent more than about 10 hours with any of them except Baldur's Gate, and that got more time because I had somebody to play it with in co-op. 99N could be the exception, but all the rest have thin-to-no story, and it's hard to carry a single player experience without one.
Boomstick
I like the 360 online system alot better than the PS3's. Its a lot smoother. Also, Halo 3 is the number 1 reason for getting an xbox 360. Its going to be the best game ever made.

having one xbox 360 of my own, i have to say this:
there is alot more than just games on the 360. there are also other functions that can be used.
it is near pointless to play without xbox live. i havent got it yet, but the temptation to get is is really great.
i have gears of war, a great game, unfortunatly it concentrates on the infantry side, and has nearly no vehicles you control, cept for the junker.
i also have the Godfather, and after 30 hours or so, i am the don of nyc. it was very satisfying, albeit being a bit linear.
i am looking ofrward to playing halo 3, but unfortunately after playing halo long i get headaches, and will have to moderate myself. Crying or Very sad
i am also looking ofrward to crackdown, just released. the do anything feature is very pwerful, from the people that brought you GTA.
DOA 4 was on my want list, even though it is a relatively old game. its gameplay is great, shown from mhy friends xbox. i might swap with my friends.
Crysis is not very interesting to me, although the innovative idea to combine the need to find constant heat is attractive.
bhzh
I'm curious, is anyone going to go out and buy the new Xbox 360 Elite? I really want that one but I'm not going to spend 479 dollars on a console I already have! Now if it were halo themed....
But anyways, I think that the Xbox 360 has a far superior online experience compared to the PS3 but the PS3's UI is better than the Xbox 360. The PS3 has more potential than the Xbox 360 but the Xbox 360 is just plain awesome right now, with Gears of War out and Halo 3 coming.
dark_guardian216
yes, but playstaion 3 will own in graphics. the problem is getting games that fully utilise it.

360 is going to sell more initially as it has already set up, with decent/great cgames for you to buy. microsoft was smart to realease it early, as then it was the first of the new consoles, and sold more.
now that wii and playstation 3 are out, they will have to compete with each other and the 360. this means less sales
Sony cannot afford to have the ps3 as a flop. they have put their all into it, and cannot allow it to go down. unfortunately th price tag does not help.
the ps3 is unbelievably expensive. even for its capabilities.

Umm... technically the Xbox 360 has a superior video card compared to the PS3... but they're at the level where you'd have to be an expert in graphics art design to tell the difference while playing it.
dark_guardian216
really? ti didnt know that. then why is sony bragging abt its 'superior' graphics?

ps3 has to get its momentum going. and fast. or else sony is sunk.

I'm actually a bit surprised I didn't see anyone mention this here. But, I'll go ahead and do so. Microsoft is planning on releasing a new Xbox 360. An addition to their current lineup (Core and Premium), this one will be the Xbox 360 Elite. Same base hardware as before, but now equipped with a whopping 120 GB hard drive, an HDMI port (cable is included, unlike the PS3 Razz ), and a black finish. It will come with a black wireless controller and a black Xbox Live headset. This was a rumor that's been around the web for quite a while, but it's been confirmed. It will be priced at $479. It still lacks Wi-Fi and a built-in HD-DVD drive. Still, a really nice console. I haven't bought an Xbox 360 yet, but now I'm considering this. The HDMI port is a major plus, then add on the 120 GB hard drive (and of course, the black paint), and you've got yourself a better gaming machine, plus a much better entertainment hub. What do you guys think of it?

Some images:
QrafTee
Yeah umm... you put new things on crap you still get crap... Just kidding. I still think it was unnecessary though. But I do think the Core has no place in any gamers homes since it is a piece of crap. The Premium is fine, so I don't see why they came out with the Elite.

Ghost recon 2....xbox live.....a few bears.... nuff said Wink

@Qraftree

Well, I'll have to agree that the premium Xbox 360 is fine, but the Elite does address some drawbacks, especially the HDMI port. As for the Core, it may find its way into some homes, but it really isn't in favor of most people. It lacks features and isn't as good of a deal as the premium or the Elite.
dark_guardian216
WHAT?!

you mean i bought a xbox 360 only to have a better one come out soon?
ah bugger.

anyway this may be to combat ps3 as it does have more functions than the 360. AND I LOVE THE BLACK FINISH!

this rumour has been circulating? funny i didnt hear about it...

william
Well, some more information. It is planned to be launched on or around April 29, 2007. Of course, I'm going for it. It fixed many of the major problems I found at launch. But, I don't think this thing was mainly made to take down the Playstation 3; but I think Microsoft will be using this against the Apple TV. I'll have to say, this is a much better choice than the Apple TV would ever hope to be.

A post on CNET said that the pictures were just down to over-excited photoshoppers, and that the release on an Xbox 360 Elite hasn't been confirmed yet.
william
@Telnven

Um, I check CNET almost daily...I've never seen an article that said that. Mind showing me a link? (because it was CNET that had an article confirming the Xbox 360 Elite.)

This is also from Xbox's website.
Telnven
My apologies it was Engadget not CNET where I found the information, http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/22/first-xbox-360-elite-pics/.

It sounds like an interesting concept but I honestly don't see where Microsoft are going with this, again sorry about my mistake,

Very good post sir, I too am still enjoying the delights of the original xbox. I got an Xbox recently off Ebay for around $60 plus 10 games and they are keeping me entertained well enough.

I recently rented out Half Life 2 which I am playing just now and this is the best game I have ever played.

The graphics are excellent but the gameplay and realistic elements are breathtaking.

Anyone who hasn't played this game, seriously should try it. Amazing.

Anyway, I too will wait probably around Xmas time and get an Xbox 360 by that time the price will be way down and hopefully there will be a lot of great games to buy too, until then I will stick with the original Xbox and enjoy what is on offer there, now, back to Ravenholm, I just have this zombie to take care off, crowbar him or hit him with my pulse gun, ah decisions, decisions.

I want an Xbox, but don't have enough money to spend on it, plus the games are so expensive. I would get it just to play halo, it is such a good game.

dark_guardian216
i have one.

Due to me facing woes about my account being deactivated, i shall give a rundown on some games we can all look forward to, in order to gain points...hah:

halo 3.: The one we have all been waiting for. this final episode will have to answers to all our questions. why are there so many halos? how will chief destroy them all? what will happen to earth?

Lost planet: out now already. there is a novel idea of killing things AND getting heat, or die of cold in the artic desert. the shooting system is quite good, but it cannot compare to gears of war and other shooters. having tried the tutorial, i can say that if there is not enough heat, it can really be a pain in the rear end.

crackdown: another completely do-anything-you-want game. the amount of things you can do increases as you grow stronger, but it uses the lure of stronger abilities to attract players to continue. despite all the other things added into the mix, there is always this feeling that all you are doing is killing endless gangsters...

ff?? : there is news that there MAY be a Final Fantasy episode of xbox 360. it will also be starring in other consoles, and the unique thing is that although each has the same storyline, different characters will be met, and you can only get the entire story by meeting these characters and combining all the episodes clues together. i find this utterly despicable as it will cause FF junkies to buy every console just to play all versions and find the complete story.
ryanh2006
Hey guys I just wanted to chime in. I am nuts for the 360. I bought it at Xmas along with Splinter Cell DA and PGR 3 and I was impressed. But nothing could prepare me for what I experienced when we bought a Samsung 40 inch HD TV and we hooked it up to it!!! Since then we have bought Gears of War, GRAW 2, Test Drive Unlimited, Oblivion, Prey and Dead Rising and the experience is simply jaw dropping. The graphics and sounds are just indescribable, the multimedia functionality (including being able to listen to any song in any game from your iPod) and the games are amazing. Seriously I think that all of these naysayers really haven't played on a 360 before or are jealous because I don't think that the most diehard fanboy could scoff at it. Plus the price is just oh so sweet.
Zombie
I will probably buy the 360 when the price goes down.
Maybe in a few years or so. Also, I heard somewhere that you can hook three TVs up to the 360. (the center would have your front view, and the sides would have your left and right views which would show areas otherwise completely out of view.) It could just be a myth though Rolling Eyes

-Zombie
gtherockgod
Im thinking I'm gonna pick up a VGA cable for my 360 so I can hook it up to my computer monitor and play in HD Very Happy much better than playing on the 15" CRT television in my room. Although then I'd also have to pick up a speaker system....hmm that could be pricy.

Games im waiting for:

-Stuntman Ignition
-Bioshock
dark_guardian216
Again, i face deactivation woes, so i shall add more games to the list:

Call of Duty 3: Been selling for quite a while, but it is quite good netherless. You play a soldier in WWII and fight for your country. there are many innovative controls, but gameplay gets rather repetitive and boring after awhile.

Hitman Blood Money: The final in the Hitman series, where the Hitman finally dies. The different assassinations and requirements are interesting, but they are mostly the same. Get in, kill target, kill anyone else, get out. And there is a little quirk that the corpses ALWAYS fall into a perfect lying down position.

Dead Or Alive 4: i just got this game. The fighting system is nearly the same as the previous game, and complete with brand new characters to this almost never-ending series. The sysm is perfect as always, and so is the rendering.

Chromehounds: Another Mech style game. You pick a side, each with their own unique weapons, and you get your Hound, you arm it, and you join the fray. This game is absolutely boring without Xbox Live, as the missions and enemy difficulty is boring after awhile.

xbox 360 is very good and expensive. Why not stay awhile in pc games?
dark_guardian216
PC games generally have the edge over console games with the keyboard and all, making typing easier. furthermore, internet connection is much more convineint, allowing for the outrageously popular MMORPGs to work their magic, such like shadows of angmar, or world of warcraft, or maplestory, or, the more unknown Discworld MUD, the best game of all time.

furthermore, PCs are upgraded all the time. you can get better graphics by just changing the grphics card or the monitor, not hte whole thing, or more computing power with a few upgrades, you dont need to rebuy the whole shebang, just upgrade the required parts.

Developers have also had more time to develop games for the PC, where with the Xbox games, you have to wait for the game in the required format to play, while some PCs even have a VBA (visual boy advance), which allows you to play gameboy games!

When developer choose platforms to work with, most of the small time companies that cannot afford the risk choose PC as their platform because they cannot afford to place all their hopes on a game that will only be available to a part of the gamers, while PCs are so common nowadays, and that would be a better alternative.

I going to get either a PS3 or a Xbox360, but I cant choose which one.
The thing I want, is that when a few friends come over, I want to be able to entertain them for a long time with multiplayer games (splitscreen) that 4 of us can play.

now I know that both PS3 and Xbox360 supports 4 players, but what I want to know is which system has more multiplayer games that fit my needs?

Need advice from the expertz please Very Happy

Ack. -10 points. thats a first, an all time low.

Ok, next big thing. Halo 3. Yes, the boy in green is back, abeit in a yellow suit, all set up and ready to blow. And guess what? all his Spartan friends are with him. know what that means? CARNAGE. With brand new weapons, such as the much awaited Spartan Laser, which kills in one hit, vehicles, such as the mongoose, a very lightweight version of the warthog, minus the artillery machine gun or rocket launcher, with onle a place for a friend to stand on to defend it. Also takes less damage. There are also limitations to the power. The previously imba energy sword, a glowing laser sabre a favorite for dicing the enemy inot itsy bitsy bits, now has a battery, which the user must let recharge. You take on more enemies, get a few more allies, and generally defeat the entire forces of alienkind out to destroy the world. How simple. I'm almost disapointed.

I love the xbox 360, and Halo is my significant other. I must say though, xbox 360 owners beware. I've had xbox 360's for a year and a half now. My third one just broke last week, argh. So if you can, I reccommend that you should get longer warranties, because these suckers have a great history of breaking down. They will repair your xbox for one hundred dollars, but right now you can get a used xbox for 80 if you look in the right places.

So I got this xbox 360 arcade on saturday, ok until i PUT A GAME IN THE player... The xbox strated to rattle n hum n really sound bad... A noisy highspeed reader. How can they put this highspeed without a silent suspension i the box????

So I thought it was a bad reader, whatelse can ONE BELIEVE.... So I went to the vendor n complained n got a new one. But this also got the same problem....

Anyone else with a crappy reader???
Maddo
That's normal, the xbox36 is very noisy. Sad
But the stuff you get for that is awesome, and most of the time whilst gaming you don't even hear the humming. Wink
spinout
*humming* haha, thats not a humming!!! that's the sound of a motorized saw!!

But I have asked XBOX support if there are any way to slow down the reader. I hope there is a way to cut down the speed. I rather wait that have this noice...

I heard that the PS3 have a much less noisier reader so when they come down in price I buy that instead...
st-games
yes PS3 have a much less noisier reader, it is true

about noise in your XBOX 360, you can not do anything except put XBOX 360 into horizontal

it will help a little
spinout
Of course one can do tricks - BE QUIET! (a company called so) has thick soundabsorbant mats. Put one under (of course horizontal) n place others around with airspace n you can reduce the noice with 50% or more.

The xboxsupport did me bad again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They sent a message to contact their support again... N it came from the support already.... how stupid is this?

Well the best way to have a xbox360 is to put it in another room, buy usb extensions cables aso...

Well when the PS3 is ok in price then I buy it n sell the noisy xbox360.

I keep struggling with the xbox support though...
gtherockgod
The noise i get out of my xbox doesnt bother me so much. What gets really irrtating though is when I press the button and the disc drive doesnt open. It opens more easily when horizontal, but because of the way my room is set up the only real space i have for it is vertically behind my TV. so if it doesnt open I have to kind of try to lift it up over the TV and hit the open and get it opened up then put it back. Not really worth sending it in for that though.
browncoat777
First of all,I have my xbox 360 in the horizontal position on the floor, approximately 3-4 feet away from me when I play. This is recommended for all game systems, computers, etc. and it never even occurred to me that the box was humming loudly. Secondly, I find it interesting that some of you guys are implying that you will buy a PS3 and sell your 360 because of this noise issue. WHAH?!?

Come on. Let me throw out some titles you guys will never play because you think you can't put up with a 'noisy reader': Oblivion, Halo, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Assassin's Creed, Orange Box,(those last two are also on PS3, but their versions are broken compared to 360's)and a whole list of awesome Xbox games that are backwards compatible. If you have other issues with Xbox or those games, fine, but if you are going to toss the Chief out in the cold because he snores too loud, you need your head examined.

The Chief can be tossed out for any reason. Halo 3 is overrated... Hell Halo 2 was, but people didn't seem to mind that. At last Call of Duty 4 proved what a real FPS should be like. However, I do agree that Orange Box rocks, but it's best when played on the PC, no doubt. Dead Rising didn't impress me much, and I'm not a fan of Oblivion-style RPGs.

A little bit of my opinion, I hope you take it to heart. If you can't afford to get Call of Duty 4, sell Halo 3 to build up money to get it. It's a lot better, but clearly not the same (no jumping, stickies, shielding, etc.)

if you play halo 3 with a group of friends either together or through live i def would not sell halo 3 to get COD 4. yes COD4 is a great game don't get me wrong, but i feel that halo 3 and all of those things QrafTee mentioned above make it the perfect game for those weekends when ur just relaxing having a few people over. the endless modes that you can choose from, make it an exciting time that is never the same twice.

COD4 is too realistic to enjoy this with in my opinion, but if you can purchase COD4 to add to your collection and don't sell halo 3 to get it.

If you're afraid of the RROD, they sell RROD Fix Kits which are 4 pads and some tools that prevents the 360's board from warping to the point where the CPU and/or GPU would give you the RROD. I'd personally look into it after the 3 year warranty expires or if you don't want to risk waiting 6+ weeks in order to get it sent out in the future when you do face the RROD.

Well Halo 3 was overhyped, so it being shown on TV isn't really saying much. Gears of War hasn't been mentioned on the news... not mainstream news anyway. If you're going to talk about mainstream news reporting on games then it's the PS3 hardware on the news, people mugging each other for one on launch. Or it's the Wii headlines of hardware shortages that are still happening... Mainstream news on games mean nothing. Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2 will be big hitters for shooter-genre this year.

Well, the Wii isn't really good for exercise.... I am a gamer and I don't have a 360 nor do I have a desire to get one--I can always use my friend's if the desire is there. I'm not sure where you're going saying the PS3 lacks blood because blood doesn't make a good game; there's this thing called gameplay, control, and story that makes up a good game. The PS3, however, has had a rough start with their PSN, but they're getting up to speed and I'm happy to see that.

In case you're wondering, I own a PC (not gaming ready yet, missing a few components), notebook, Wii, DS Lite, PSP "Lite", Zune (they say it'll play games so I'm counting it) and I will be a PS3 owner soon.

actualy studies have shown that wii is pretty good for excerise resting homes for elderly have bought some and elderly play it. lol. I understand about story and gameplay but blood can make games awsome like in gears of war when you chainsaw somebody blood flys everywhere. Blood makes the game more realstic. shooter games without blood just look fake.
I know because i make games.(pc games). a bloody shooter vs a non bloody shooter the bloody shooter will win.

Well yes, blood makes a game more realistic, but it gets pretty superfluous when people grades a game on how much blood splatters in it. Punching people to spill a little blood is fine, but punching people with pints of blood just spraying every which way doesn't make a game any better or more realistic... in fact it makes it less realistic--"you can have too much of a good thing." and it's not just limited to action games, shooters, and even RTS benefits from it; that I know, but I'm sure you can see my position as well.

Yes, the Wii is good for elderly homes and rehabilitation... but in terms of general exercise, its really not better than... let's say taking a nice walk--in fact this way you get a breath of fresh air... unless you're in L.A. or another polluted area.

Who says that? I played against all my friends and although it does draw out sweat, it doesn't have the same feeling as a real work out. Maybe what I did equals more than walking half a mile, but I don't see how just 2 rounds equate to walking half a mile.

yep I got both I am falling in love with the hurricane force winds that are generated by my xbox 360, when I turn it on. It wouldn't surprise me if it lifted one of these days. PS3 is so much better than the xbox because online gaming is free using the Playstation network, while xbox live cost $7.99 per month. One more reason not to get this. Sadly there is one game that I wanted and that is Command and Conquer 3. While I can't deny therer is slightly better eye Candy being delivered by the xbox 360 than the ps3, the PS3 has alot more bang for the buck with with all the kickass addons to the console which include blue ray support. I was also surprised to see that the Xbox 360 uses DVD not HD-DVD in it's games. That makes a ginormous difference in terms of gaming goodies that are available per disc.

The new Halo wars is comming out soon and it looks kind of interesting. Obviously only available on the 360 due to the nature of the beast. I'm hoping that they put intuitive user controls on this one to help pave the way for better control of these types of games on the console. I agree with the slowness of playing on a console compared to the PC, but then again, I don't have my PC hooked up to the 60 inch tv in the living room. hmmm... wonder how my wife would like that? I figure it a different way... Xbox LIVE - $50/year = $4.16/month = Too much anyway.
Now lets put it this way:
Nintendo Internet (yes, not the best example) - $0/year = $0/month = Just right.
PlayStation Network - $0/year = $0/month = Just right.
Games for Windows LIVE - $0/year = $0/month = About time Microsoft got off its high horse and made it free.
Steam/BattleNet/GameSpy/Etc. - $0/year = $0/month = Pretty standard for PC gamers.

Now let's factor in ISP:
Comcast: $45+/month
At&t: $20+/month

So yes, it could be $5 more a month, but it's still outrageous when you compare it to PC standards and their competitors. They may have a better setup compared to Sony and Nintendo now, but that's not going to last (against Sony). And they're still trailing (and probably will continue trailing) PC gamers.

You should build a mid-range PC for RTS games. It is so much better looking and responsive. Not only that, but you can play against other people online without having to pay an annual subscription. Red Alert 3 is going to be amazing from what EA has been showing us.

While I certianly cant deny that has happened to me but not as frequently as you state. However, even if it does happen as frequently as you state, than by no means does it beat complete hardware failure. When you have a hardware failure when the xbox breaks down, you have spend time and money to get it fixed. When the PS3 freezes you have to reset it, which last time I checked is faster and easier than getting the broken system fixed.

Yeah, the PS3 definitely doesn't have Gears of War... but it doesn't only have Metal Gear Solid 4 either... Only a fanboy would make up a dim-witted remark such as that.

Along with Metal Gear Solid 4, it has LittleBigPlanet, the Resistance series, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Valkyria Chronicles, White Knight Chronicles, God of War 3, Quantum Theory, Killzone series, Gran Turismo 5, Infamous, Heavy Rain, and SOCOM--which has been patched... thankfully... and hopefully a new Team ICO game.

The Xbox 360 isn't without good exclusive titles either with Gears of War 1 and 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Fable 2, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery and Viva Pinata.

To be honest I had no problems with my xbox 360, I have had it for months without any problems, I got that almost a year ago and still have nothing bad to report. But then again, I have never used the systems without turning on a fan that got just special for the sytem. It was used when I got it and still works great. I got mine before hdmi became mainstream. 1080i is amazingly good video quality. Sadly the PS3 does not have the balls to fully support that resolution, only blurays really use 1080P resolution, while every 3D PS3 game that I have ever played all run on 720P, which iss by no means bad but can't compete fairly with the xbox 360 fully supporting such high end video gaming goodness. To be honest the xbox is light ahead in terms of eye candy, because not only does every game support 1080 resolution, but there is a very visible difference between the same games due to much higher polygon count that is clearly visible. In terms of game storage, even with bluray 50 GB most games are never bigger than 10GB, which is well within DVD range. I can't deny that bluray eye candy was a big reason why I got the system, I fell in love with everything that is the ps3.

First MS got caught with their pants down when one of their workers admitted that they knew about the high chance of RROD before releasing it, now they're in trouble again now that documents have been released showing MS knew about the disc scratching problems and still released the console as it was.

That freaking sucks ass, I just purchased Gears of War and amazingly there was a big circular scratch mark that magically appeared while I was simply using the game, after which the game stopped working. I would have never bought this had I know ahead of time about this.Who do I complain to about this? I sincerely hope that this issue that occurs only with the built in DVD player, since it does also have and HDDVD player, is this a more reliaible player?

Gamestop rules for getting used goodies, since they had no reason to accept a clearly had a defect that my xbox just decided magically did. However, Gamestop was nice enough to exchange this defective dvd that I made that way. A very useful tidbit of information came to me after returning the dvd, which was to makes sure the xbox was placed horizontally, because it can far more easily scratch disks when it is left verrtically.

I may be more reliable because it's used horizontally. I don't know too much about those add-on devices.

You should have a month of Gold that comes with your 360. I mean, when you make your first Xbox Live account on it, it will offer you a free one month trial.

I haven't been offered a free month with my pro console, but I haven't tried to play against others online or anything.

I actually have to go and exchange my console because the disc drive makes a horrid sound when I am done playing a game and the console is in the standing position. It doesn't do it when the console is laying down, but I know it's not supposed to make that horrible noise in any case. Plus I like the console standing up as it takes less room. Other than that, I am very happy with the 360.

Sadly I came to this knowledge after my xbox scratched away at my gears of war. Good looking ut on my part for gamestop, because they took back a disk that was clearly damaged by my system, and they were the ones that advised me to move from its standing on its edge . For whatever reason, it scratches dvd's whenever you decide to put on its side, which is how my xbox used to be when it did a big circle. Unfortunately, the heads will grind against any disk, if you leave stand up, because it has to fight against gravity when you leave it standing on its edge. If you lay it down gravity helps in the disks finds its center of the drive, making it far more reliable, in its laying down position. This is a design flaw with all xbox's, not just yours.

You want to leave the xbox on its side, because the dvd player scratches the disk if the system is left in the up position.

I think it *probabilistically* scratches discs more when it's upright. But chances are still heavily unlikely that your discs will be scratched when it's upright. The biggest culprit of it was that they didn't have protection pads on the lens that read the dvds. But they've (I think) fixed it now. Either way, I don't think you'll have any problems whether your 360 is upright or on its side. Do whatever looks better in your center and is best for space.

Sadly I have already had dual bad luck with the xbox regardless of where the system is placed it scratces games without need or reason. Which means I will not ever buy a single game for it ever since it has already scratched 2 gears of war copies.

I have never used that system without its intercooler always on. My brother borrowed for the weeked and forgot to actually used the fan that I gave hime and I came back to find the rings of death with a bsoken xbox, this was the first system that has ever broken on me and to make matters worst the dvd player is badly designed so much so that you cant even sneeze in the general direction of the the xbox unless you want to swirly your video games, making permanent circular scratch marks on the back anything you stupidly decided to put into the dvd player, like i dont know a perfectly working xbox 360 video game. Although I tried to get them to replace my scratched up gears of war disc which cost me $29.99. All of Microsoft's liability for replacing discs that were clearly scratched by their hardware was a measly $19.99. Lets not forget that most Xbox games sell for $59.99. If this happens to one of the new games they dont replace the disk. All you get is $20 regardless of how much you paid, and what if this happens to a game you rented. Most rental sores charge around $100 for lossing their games.

I am amazingly thankful for having bought gears of war from gamestop.com, since they hooked me up and took responsibility for a defective xbox design and took the game back.

Now I was thinking about selling the xbox 360 and getting the surround sound upgrade that should have gotten first, but then microsoft surprised my pants off at this years E3 show with the best treason to keep my xbox 360 and that was project natal, the ultimate gaming device ever made, and to be honest I thought nintendo was going to beat them to the punch with that motion capture doodad since the wii controller was the closest thing to the xbox's project natal. Microsoft came o ut of left field with announcement.

I scored my xbox 360 at work for $150 NZ dollars!! because it was an ex-serviced but it runs perfectly fine. The only reason why i bought it was because it was cheap and the service department provided a new controller and a new power adaptor. Although it's one of those arcade ones where it doesn't come with a hdd, I managed to score myself a 120gb harddrive for free @ the service repair department @ my brother in laws company, as well as a component AV cable and a hdmi (which doesn't even fit).

It's running perfectly, although the fan is loud and it blows out hot mf ass air!! Got the fricken intercooler EX for it as well but that sometimes freezes from time to time so I left it out in case the stories i've heard about it is true. All in all I scored it for:

$150 + $30(for controller) + $5 (intercooler EX).

That's 185, which is about 100 US Razz eat that suckers.

The irony is that last night, after typing that post, my 360 shut off suddenly while I was browsing game demos, and had three red lights in the ring flashing.

so I shut it off. Then I turned it on again. All the lights in the ring were red. So I shut it off again and unplugged it. After a few seconds I plugged it back in and turned it on. All green lights, boot up, and back to the Dashboard like nothing happened.

Unfortunately everything that could go wrong with my Xbox 360 has gone wrong. I was am aware of the amazingly hot air that comes out of the hurricane force wind coming out of my intercooler. I was naive enough to let my brother borrow the xbox with the intercooler, which he did not know how to install so he uses it for a day and i come back to a bricked red lights of doom xbox. One day t brick the xbox, it was on for maybe 8 hours on saturday. It no longer worked sunday, Now my brother is thankful that he did no have pay the repair bill, which was $159. The system has an amazingly long warranty built into it by microsoft, the longest in the industry which is 3 years. after the repair no one ever turns on the xbox without the intercooler, and still it has only broken down once, so there intercooler is requirement for the unit, and it's definately worths wiegh in gold for keeping this unit healthy. Nintendo's Wii handles heat in a very logical way, I figured this out accidentally since my kids dropped it and the fan stopped work hon the unit. How does the Wii handle heat, by shutting off before reaching its circutries melting point. We all know heat burns out electrical components, which the reason why the xbox stops working because I have never head the unit ever shut off ever, which all the hot air builds up until it melts the circuit.

There is sadly another dumb design crap that microsoft piled into our mouths. Not only do we suffer from overheating xboxes, but also DVD head that stick out too high for its own good, so If by accident your are using your xbox with a disc in, which most of us have to. And lets say that your controller runs out of batteries, and you have plug int your controller the shake of your connecting the control to your xbox, can cause big swirly marks on your games. We all know how much better DVD's work after being scratched . This all happened to me twice on the same game "Gears of war",
which was still under warranty at GameStop, now it wasn their fault that my xbox made big circles in the back of their games 2 times.

well actually that is not an uncommon problem because xbox he xdoes a very similar red light sequence when have a loose tv cable. Sometimes it can be just loose cables that cause those lights to come on and that was the first thing i tried.

yesterday i played inFamous of the ps3 (demo ) and it didn't feld that hardcore army think but just a game with sometime the hardcore army stuff..
i liked it more then prototype

I have InFamous and it's the first time I actually felt like I was falling off a building when I jumped off a tall building... it was a little eerie. My friend purchased Prototype, so we're going to swap when I finish InFamous as the Hero.

I loved Infamous alot mor e than prototype because infamous has a mog re open ended gaming experience letting you choose sides so that you have to pass the game 2 times

Halo is entirely overated. Sure it has great multiplayer, one of the best in the gaming business, but the single player is just crap. The storyline doesn't make sense, and you're supposed to be this awesome spartan super soldier yet you run around with the rest of the grunts blowing up generators and such. Doesn't feel like you're making a difference to me.

Does anyone know if the Nyko Intercooler's any good? I've heard some good feedback and some bad feedback, but it sounds almost like a risk just to try it out. What do you guys think? I heard it will burn the back of where the power adaptor is inserted in, but the one I'm looking at has a metal tip, so I don't see that burning?

On the side note: I can't wait for Assassins Creed 2 and COD4-2 Very Happy!!

I've heard good and bad things about them too. But Microsoft has a new policy that if you need to get your system repaired for any reason and they find out that you used a third-party cooler your warranty becomes void and it is sent back to you unrepaired. The only way I can think they can find out is if it melts onto the console or something.

price drop!! found off of google news today.

As was expected, Microsoft is cutting the price of its high-end Xbox 360 Elite, which comes with a 120 Gigabyte hard drive, by $100 from $399 to the price of $299, starting Friday. The current $299 60GB model will be reduced to $249 while supplies last. That means eventually, the only two models at retail will be the 120GB version and the $199 Arcade model without a hard drive.

Yeah, but for the same price you can get a Playstation 3 with a 120GB hard drive, Blu-ray, built-in Wifi, and free online service.

I think Microsoft should drop the Elite to $249 and the Arcade to $149. And if that doesn't send a signal to Nintendo, I don't know what will.

Now if you do open the xbox and place the fan interbally that automatically voids your warrant. The Intercooler is externallly mounted. There is no reason to ever open up the xbox when using the intercooler

Hey great times since I have bought the xbox 360. Amazingly enough this unit has been the first and only console that I have ever owned to break on me, and please keep in mind that I have been I an owner of video game systems since the heyday f the Nintendo Entertainment System, that means that Since 1988, this is the first time in life that such a missfortune happens. Yes I remember how anoying it was trying to get games to play on the og nintendo system. Now I had the best results wiping off the game and putting a few baseball cards in between the game and the system. but even that method was not perfect , because for best results. N ow to be fair tithe nintendo did eventually break, but by then the N64 was just around the corner. Now in terms of durability my only requirement is the system simply last long enough so thats its replacement system was released before it stops working. Now to make things fair the systems have broken before bnut never beforethe new system was released

When it first came out, it was like the best thing that ever happened to the world!! I thought different. I didnt really like it that much, thougth it was a waste of money. But then i said "eh,why not just try it" So i borrowed my friends 360 and i liked it, but the thing was, my router wasnt downstairs where i was, and there was NO way on earth im gunna pay 100$ just to make it wireless, Laughing SO anyways. I think the 360 is the worst item there is as a console.

I want to sell my current Pro one and get the new slim. It may not be as pretty, but the lower power consumption and the built in Kinect port, along with a massive hard drive, are very tempting. I don't have any plugs left at my entertainment center, so using Kinect with my current 360 wouldn't really be possible since it would need to be plugged into the wall.

Why exactly do you need a Pro and a Slim?
eday2010
I don't. But consoles aren't as robust as they used to be. It used to be hard to break a console. Now with all the moving parts and heat they can give off, they break much more easily. So it's nice to have a backup. Plus down the road I may want a console in two different rooms.

Had I paid for the Slim, I would sell the Pro. But since it was a gift, I don't need to sell the Pro.

The Nintendo Entertainment System was quick to "break," it was always a hassle to get a game to work, but then Nintendo got the hang of making sturdy consoles. From the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to the Nintendo Gamecube, they've been sturdy and hard to break.

Sony hasn't been making sturdy consoles since the Playstation 3; but in terms of defective internal parts, they've been pretty consistently subpar--I've never gotten a bad one though luckily. I've heard some pretty horrid stories about defective lasers.

As for Microsoft... their Xbox was a huge monster, but still broke quite easily during break tests. And the Xbox 360... well we all know the RROD, the plethora of problems it has, and it actually breaks fairly easily compared to the Wii and Playstation 3. But I still wouldn't buy one waiting for the other to break... that's not good customer expectations.

The main problem with the NES was the contraption to lock the cartridge in place, wasn't it? Any moving part will break eventually. Any console today is far more susceptible to breaking than they used to be. It was pretty hard to break an Atari 2600 Jr, Sega Master System, Genesis, or SNES. The only moving parts on those consoles were the slot covers and power/reset buttons. No disc drive, no laser, no fans. And they didn't give off tons of heat like consoles today do.

I'd say the most reliable console today is the DS, even with its hinge. Apart from that, it doesn't really have any moving parts. Regardless, I am very careful with all my consoles.

Actually it wasn't the "contraption lock" itself although the force required to insert a game did cause the contact pins to become more than... unreliable.

That's... um... nice. I see it more of a thing that should be put in places where you may have to wait with your kids like at the doctor's office or at a car dealership. Y'know, no controllers to have to worry about getting stolen and such and a child can just walk up to it and use it while the parents do their business.

That is nice. It's a great piece of hardware. It's obvious that you haven't tried it yet. The Kinect is prefect for certain kinds of games, like dancing games if you are into that. Eventually it will get some traditional games. But in the meantime, the ones I have do a great job showcasing the hardware.

I've tried it at Fry's. It will not work with mainstream "traditional" games for one reason... you don't feel anything.

I've given a scenario where it would work; maybe if catoms can be programed to work in conjunction with a Kinect-like device then its possible. Until then, it'll be some better used for... doctor's office and car dealerships and whatnot so the kids can step up and start dancing so their parents can conduct their activities.

You "feel" buttons. Nowadays you "feel" vibration feedback. I don't know what kind of games you've been playing, but it must not be anything from the Atari to the Playstation 3.

And I'm sure that's why the Rumble Pak was an instant hit for the Nintendo 64 and why Sony chose to include it into the the controllers with the Dualshock for the Playstation. That must also be the same reason it was standardized afterwards by all console manufacturers and how there was a backlash against Sony when they chose to omit it from their SixAxis controller when the Playstation 3 launched.

Holding something and feeling tactile feedback immerses you into the game. You can't do that throwing an air ball; it does not feel right.

Rumble packs and such are just gimmicks. Holding a gamepad when you are playing soccer, or even shooting someone with a gun, is hardly immersive. You always know you are holding a gamepad. And having it rumble in your hand hardly immerses you in a game. It just lets you know you've been hit, as does what is happening on screen; it doesn't make it any more real.

A team of Microsoft researchers in Cambridge (UK) published a study showing ways to improve the speed and accuracy of Kinect. The lucky one is that the Kinect is produced by the same Microsoft - although research has not officially connected to the accessory 360.

This "plan B" puts aside all the technology base of Kinect and seeks a new approach. Instead of using the recognition system based on tracking movements of arms and legs of the player, the researchers created a method capable of identifying body parts in an image, pixel by pixel - no lag, no loss of reference when the player departs.

Larry Hryb, director of programming for Xbox Live and also known as "Major Nelson", announced this week that Microsoft is looking for testers for a new disc format for the Xbox 360.

According to the announcement on his official blog, Hryb said that users who participate in the testing program will receive a copy of the game "Halo: Reach" and other goodies.

The Xbox 360 currently supports disks DVD5 (single layer) and DVD9 (dual layer), which have a storage capacity of 4.7GB and 7.95GB respectively.

Hryb did not mention what the new disc format, but it is quite possible that the "DVD18" which is basically a two-sided disk with support for 7.95GB in each.

He said Microsoft is looking for "thousands" of testers in the U.S. alone and those interested can register at Connect. Whoever is selected will be notified by email.

I heard the new format is just unlocking an extra 1GB in their current disc format by utilizing some sort of compression technology or making use of the buffer in the disc drives.

Wait do you mean you own almost every game made for the xbox 360? If you do then that's pretty amazing. I only have one wall unit full of game, and that's not even close to 10% of all the game made for the xbox. I have only about 40-50 titles.

Amazing? A lot of games aren't worth getting on any console--Barbie, any Rare, and Sesame Street games for instance.

You apparently didn't get what I was calling amazing. I was saying it's amazing that he can afford that many games. If you literally own almost every xbox 360 game then you've probably spent over thousands of dollars.

The only game I know of at the moment is Skyrim which will use the kinect for voice commands. Other than that I heard Star Wars is pretty fun.

I used to play my xbox360 all the time. That is until it broke with the bottom right red ring. It wasn't a full red ring of death, but may as well be the same. I have to "bake" my xbox just to cause an overheating error to override the original error. It plays fine for awhile until I have to turn the console off. Once I turn it back on, the red ring returns. Sigh... I swear I have no luck with the xbox consoles. This was my second one that broke within 2 years.

I've had much more success with the ps3 lasting long. I have the original 60gb fat version of the ps3 and it's still kicking. I'm pretty much broke at the moment so I can't afford another xbox360.

i love xbox 360

The Halo 4 edition xbox is coming out when halo 4 does. I'm getting that one!! I don't have one yet, and have always "kindof" wanted one. i just don't like how stingy Microsoft is, and what a money hog they are... But I do love halo. Honestly if Halo was available on the ps3 I would get that instead. Honestly I think a lot of people would. Kinect is a lot of fun too!!

I bought the 360 quite late actually in january 2010... just couldn't stop playing on my first XBOX, mostly a game called Crimson Skies, High Road to Revenge in multiplayer mode.

I'm addicted to Arcade games and some blockbusters with over 120 titles.

Caught the console at the end of its life cycle since XBOX 3/720 will be launched end of 2013.

Can't complain about my 360 (Arcade Version) since I never had one single issue with it and most certainly didn't have to deal with the so-called "Red Ring of Death".

I've become a 360 freak since halo 4 came out... I purchased an original phat 360 from a friend for $70. Since then I've upgraded the hard drive to 250, gotten an broken slim from a cousin and fixed it, and purchased another phat 360 from craigslist for $60 that's also broken, and I've got it almost fixed enough to be able to resell to a friend. 360 is so fun! I've been missing out all these years. I have a lot of catching up to do. As long as I keep finding good deals on broken 360's I can fix, I'll be able to save up for the next gen 360 no problem Very Happy

I've kind of fallen out of favor with the xbox. I had the original xbox360 for a few years until it got the red ring of death. I bought a second console only for it to get the 1/3 ring of death. Basically it kept getting the error message preventing me from playing any games. So, in order to use it, I had to bake the console to override the original error by causing an error for overheating. I did that for a few weeks and it got worse as time progressed. That was expected of course. This happened last year after two years of having the console. I never did replace it yet.

The main reason I am so hesitant is because you have to pay for the online play. That's clearly something the ps3 has over the xbox. The xbox seems to get more support especially from bethesda games which makes up the majority of games I usually play on either console.

I don't hate the xbox, I just wish it were more durable and less prone to errors that completely lock you out of even playing a game. It would also help if it were cheaper. I like to play online multiplayer for some games so I kind of have to settle for the ps3 for now until I'm able to afford another console plus the membership.

is this really a good one? I am planning to buy and check its feature online including reviews.

I saw this one reviewer wrote:

Its really worth to purchased.

can it live up to the legacy of the Xbox 360? For long stretches of the last console generation, the Xbox was king. While the Wii was everywhere, and millions of gamers and AV enthusiasts eventually picked up a PlayStation 3, for a while there the phrase "let's play some Xbox" was almost interchangeable with "let's play some video games."

I guess I will buy an 360 when it goes cheaper since it has lots of games to play & finish

I don't know if this thread is still open but does anyone know if I should buy a xbox one or Ps4. Is this right thread for this question? If not please move to the right thread. I am now thinking of buying the xbox but I was woundering if anyone knew if it actually is the better product.

What sort of gaming experience are you looking for? That will dictate the answer.
Marcuzzo
I have the xbox one for a while now and I'm happy with it.
the reason why I bought the xbox was that most of my friends have an xbox and this way I could play online with them.
if they would all have had a PS4 I would have bought a PS4.

as far as games go, each platform has a limited set of exclusive games which are not available on the other platform but most games can be found for all major platforms
