Any natural stuff for removing/minimising acne scars?

loyal
Hey,

I was just wondering if you know or can recommend any natural ingredients or methods for removing or minimising acne scars or similar scars. (Obviously laser surgery isn't natural lol)

Peace.

I have heard topical vitamin E is supposed to help. I don't quite know if it is true, but I guess worth looking into. You can buy it as a cream (an expensive cream most likely) or just buy the soft capsules intended for ingesting and break it open and put it on the scars. Wikipedia doesn't agree though, and it recommends vitamin C instead.

It must mean vitamin E; vitamin E is well-known recommended product for that.
Anyone had any success with it?

Peace.

Yes! There are some really good options. Save dermabrasion and lasers as a last resort for sure. The best I've used for scars is unrefined extra virgin coconut oil. Look up the oil cleansing method for tips on using it. It might give your face a different kind of complexion for a while, and some people have bad reactions to it, but it has the potential to erase quite a bit of scarring. Only use a very tiny bit on your face!

Also, manuka honey / egg masks work really good for scars for the first two weeks or so. And I've heard that avocado masks work wonders for pitted scars.

I don't think it is always a case of a good diet that creates acne. It has to do with hormones as well. Probably much better to see a good dermatologist for treatment of acne, and then to take care of the scars, to see a good plastic surgeon. There are abrasion techniques that are not as invasive, that can help grow a second skin, but it is important to get a professional person with a very good record of using this technique to do the abrasion. He/she will also recommend what ointments to use afterwards as not all skin lotions are necessarily the right ones, better to have a specialist advise on this.

I read somewhere that some of the most effective natural scar minimizers are aloe vera, honey and lemon juice.

Accutane. It is just a derivative of Vitamin A.

It cured my acne and removed almost all my scars when I was younger. It's 100% safe unless you get pregnant while taking it, or are already depressed. I was depressed prior to taking it, and it did not make me more depressed.

Paula Begoiun (Author of The Beauty Bible) is the one who convinced me to take it, and recommends it in her book.

Do you need a doctor's prescription to buy it?

I'm sure a doctor's prescription would be necessary, as it has a looooong list of side-effects. Refer the article below:
http://www.drugs.com/accutane.html

The article cautions people against buying this drug on the Internet. I must say I've been completely turned off by it. Also note that one is not supposed to take it with other Vitamins, or with standard anti-biotic prescriptions for acne such as tetracycline.

Quote:
Accutane is available only under a special program called iPLEDGE. You must be registered in the program and sign documents stating that you understand the dangers of this medication and that you agree to use birth control as required by the program. Ask your doctor or call the drug maker if you have questions about the program or the written requirements.

It is dangerous to try and purchase Accutane on the Internet or from vendors outside of the United States. The sale and distribution of Accutane outside of the iPLEDGE program violates the regulations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the safe use of this medication.

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to isotretinoin or to parabens, or if you are pregnant or may become pregnant.
