Hey, so I'm re-making my site again, I'm starting a small IT company (who isn't), and frankly I'm out of steam on the creative side of things, so here it is, I need your help designing a logo for my site....
I don't know the domain i'm gonna buy yet, so i can't really tell you (sorry), but lets presume it'll be called TFx2 (even tho it wont, for sure), could you post a sample of what you can do on here? Just so that I can get an idea for your style.
Obviously I'm not going to use anything without an agreement/Frih$ exchange.
I'm looking for a professional looking logo, that I would be able to use as a trademark aswell. It should be simple (black-white or black-grey), but it should be 'artsy' too....basicly let your imagination run free and we'll see what happens =]
If it helps, the IT company will offer varios media solutions (graphic design as one of them funny enough, i just want input from a 3rd party for this one), web-design/development, software development, and also IT security assessment + solutions. So a darker theme would be ok, as long as it looks proffesional. Sorry, it's quite hard describing things like such. I'll consider anything really, as long as it's good =]
If you don't find the 300Frih$ attractive, we could work out a deal some other way (I'm good at scripting and such).

I did not see it as a recycling sign but now you mention it you may have a point.

that closer to the color scheme I would like, but not exactly the style.

No, no skulls (I've nothing against tho), i just thought it looked good. I like the idea of concept art as part of the logo.

I didnt have much time, so heres what i got so far..

Some attempts of mine, rather vague what you asked for I usually work of dimensions and detailed descriptions but i gave it a shot
To use the first one i used Paint.NET and Photoshop CS3
For the Seconds Two i used AutoCAD 2009 and Photoshop CS3
I also have Fireworks MX for any animations
I think the guy is looking for something more design wise than something so basic. No offense to any of the attempted logos here. They are all great, just doesn't suit the guys standards to his own point of view.
If you want something with more of a design built into the logo, you are going to have to come up with a name first.
Logos like these weren't started with a "maybe" name. The design of the logo was thought out carefully based on the name of the logo, and what the company was about.
Notice the blue dog of course, then the house inside of the dog, showing the "properties" of the company name.
I'd be more than happy to do a design for your company, however you need to be specific on the name if you want a professional looking logo, as I'm not going to spend time on something and then have you change the name on me which could take hours to change and keep the same look/style without creating a whole new design. I don't have enough free time on my hands to do something like that for Frih$.

I'll decide upon the final name, and pm you then. Since I also want to make the majority of the site before i buy the domain, it might take from 3 days to a week, is that alright?
And of course there'll be no annoying changes! =]
@Ghost Rider. Are these your designs? They are really great. I particularly like the "Blue Dog Properties" logo. Simple, elegant and very effective.

Adri's link really came up with some fantastic logos. The "noon" one in particular is awesome.
So The Nisk, if you say any takers, does it mean you want someone to design something that looks like the designs in Adri's link? Or your examples?
Something alike to the disigns in adris link. If I don't find anyone willing to do it, I'll do it myself of course, i just wanted 3rd party input.

Maybe Ghost Rider has a point. A good start would be the name of your Website. Then one can play with the fonts and really become creative along the lines of the logos in Adri's example. Otherwise it is mostly shooting at the dark.

Sounds great. What does "lastaxis" mean? Something like LastAxis? Or different?

I think you should try posting it without the shadows. Or at least lower the opacity of the shadow. It's pretty big. It might look good in certain areas, but to be on the top of a website somewhere, it would probably pop way too much and would pop out of the theme of the website. So it may not fit correctly.
Also, I notice on a lot of your work your shadows are always cut off on the edges somewhere. I think you need to use a bigger canvas size. It doesn't look good when part of the logo is being cut off.
But I do like it, looks pretty clean. Good job.

This is a version without the shadows
This has a tenth of the shadow of before in it:
I prefer the one without the shadow. Shadows can be tricky and take some time to get it down right.
I think it looks good, but it being a design website, I'm going to guess the op is going to say that it lacks color. If so, I'd make the top part of the X a light gray, make the bottom part a dark gray (kinda like it already is) then make the text color the same gray as the top part of the X.
Then, open up a hue and saturation layer style (make sure its on top of all layers) then play around with the coloring of it some until you get something that looks good. I said make them gray that way the hue and saturation will change the color of those two parts only. If you leave everything the same and try a hue and saturation, it won't do much. You need a light color in play so it can change it colors. Just some info there in case you didn't know how it works.
Though that may not even work. You may have to make last and axis two different colors, or just play around with some color combos.
Just my opinion though.
Sorry, guys, I'm looking for a logo with concept art in it. I have a friend who is a graphic designer, so he'll make me one when he has some free time.

If I didn't know what the name of the site was before you posted that logo, I don't think I ever would of figured it out. I actually had to look at it for about a minute until I figured out what you were trying to do, and I already knew the name.
Again, colors seem to be a bit bland it being a design/media website.
I like it, I just don't think it really works.
But it is cool. Good job.

Yeah you're right about pretty much everything, but as i said this is just a temporary thing i threw together, and even that's not finished fully
Although i think the fact that i posted such a big sample has something to do with it, it looks better smaller i think, zoom out and see, i'd like to know if it's just me. I can use it as a favicon at least.
Your one is great, though I dont think anyone will actually understand the text part - "Last axis" or rather the name being displayed by the logo at a glance.
Well, I don't think that really matters, as the person will already know the name of the website..
By the way, what does last axis really mean? was it just a random pick..
Even though you're getting it done from a friend, I'll still give it one more go.

Thanks for the opportunity The Nisk. It is fun. I'm sure when you critiqued your own logo that you did not quite like it either. It's a bit loose jointed and really dark. But it gives a better idea of where you are headed. How about this one:
