Healthiest foods on earth

menino
I found this site with the healthiest foods on earth, as shown below. I think most natural foods are healthy, but shown below are the healthiest :-

Quote:

1. Berries
All berries are low in sugar and high in fiber. Blueberries have been shown to increase memory in lab studies, and raspberries and strawberries are loaded with ellagic acid, a powerful antioxidant that seems to have some anti-cancer properties, according to the American Cancer Society.

2. Beans
Beans are extremely high in fiber, which helps to control weight, prevent or manage diabetes and blood sugar, and may help prevent colon cancer and protect against heart disease. The National Institute of Medicine recommends 25-38 grams of fiber a day. The average American gets only 4-11 grams. One cup of beans provides 11-17 grams.

3. Nuts
Some of the largest and most important long-term studies of diet and health have shown that eating nuts several times a week is consistent with a risk of heart attack and heart disease that is 30%-50% lower than the general population. Just one ounce of nuts-almonds, macadamia, Brazil , walnuts, pecans-eaten three to five times a week seems to be the magic number.

4. Wild Salmon
Fish is the ultimate anti-aging food. Cold-water fatty fish like wild salmon, sardines, mackerel and herring contain omega-3 fats that protect the brain and the heart, improve mood, and lower blood pressure and triglycerides.

5. Raw Milk
Raw, organic milk nearly always comes from grass-fed cows and contains high levels of cancer-fighting CLA (conjugated linolenic acid) as well as a rich assortment of vitamins, minerals and beneficial bacteria (like Lactobacillus acidophilus)

6. Grass-Fed
Meat Meat from grass-fed cows has a much different fat profile than ordinary supermarket meat: high in omega-3s, lower in potentially harmful omega-6s and loaded with CLA, a kind of fat known for its anti-cancer activity. A superb source of protein and vitamin B12, it's also missing the antibiotics, steroids and hormones found in the meat that comes from feedlot farms.

7. Eggs
Considered by many to be nature's most perfect food, the egg is high in protein and relatively low in calories. The yolk contains choline, one of the most important nutrients for the brain, as well as lutein and xeazanthin, two critical nutrients for eye health. Brassica Vegetables Cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and kale all contain plant compounds called indoles that help reduce the risk of cancer. In addition to a stunning range of vitamins and minerals, they also contain sulforaphane, an important plant chemical that helps the body detoxify health-damaging chemicals.

8. Apples
Not only do they keep the doctor away, they also appear to do the same for lung cancer, diabetes and asthma. An apple contains five grams of fiber and a rich blend of nutrients including the bone-building vitamin K and the anti-inflammatory nutrient quercetin. And there's no better way to control your appetite than an apple eaten about half an hour before a big meal.

9. Onions and Garlic
In an impressive number of published studies, the consumption of onions and garlic has demonstrated protective effects against stomach, prostate and esophageal cancer. Along with broccoli, tea and apples, onions and garlic are among a select group of foods found to reduce mortality from heart disease by 20%.

10. Pomegranate Juice
Called "a natural Viagra" by researchers at Tel Aviv University , pomegranate juice is loaded with antioxidants. Studies show it can reduce blood pressure and plaque in the arteries. New research indicates it also slows the progression of tumors.. Four to eight ounces a day is highly recommended.

11. Green Tea
Though all teas are great for you, green tea has a unique profile of plant chemicals that have anti-cancer activity. It's now fairly established that green tea may help prevent the following types of cancers in humans: bladder, colon, esophagus, pancreas, rectum and stomach. If that's not enough, it also appears to help with weight control.

it would be so much fun if berries are easy to find over here. I love berries. I take most of the food in the list. I guess I'm going in the healthy direction.

I'd also add beets to the list. The roots and leaves of the beet have been used in folk medicine to treat a wide variety of ailments. Ancient Romans used beetroot as a treatment for fevers and constipation, amongst other ailments. Apicius in De re coquinaria gives five recipes for soups to be given as a laxative, three of which feature the root of beet. Hippocrates advocated the use of beet leaves as binding for wounds. Since Roman times, beetroot juice has been considered an aphrodisiac. From the Middle Ages, beetroot was used as a treatment for a variety of conditions, especially illnesses relating to digestion and the blood. Platina recommended taking beetroot with garlic to nullify the effects of 'garlic-breath'.

It has been suggested the pigment molecule betanin in the root of red beets may protect against oxidative stress and has been used for this purpose in Europe for centuries.

All parts of the beet plant contain oxalic acid. Beet greens and Swiss chard are both considered high oxalate foods which have been implicated on the formation of kidney stones.

Forgot to mention that beet juice as a beverage can improve aerobic performance.

A UK study observed the consequences of organic beet juice to increase stamina and as an amplifier for athletic performance. Studies in the University of Exeter have shown very promising results that, compared with a group of men taking placebo blackcurrant juice target group actually performed above average in their ability to cycle on an exercise bike.

Groups were given 500 ml day of its beverages in seven days, and then completed a second set of Cycling tests to compare before and after results. Conclusions from the results was that those who make beet juice increased endurance and were able to cycle significantly longer than those who had not. Another observation was that this group was also lower resting blood pressure than those drinking black currant juice.

It is believed that beetroot juice, with its rich source of nitrates have the opportunity to reduce the amount of oxygen is burned from the body during exercise. Beet juice lowers blood pressure and showed significantly reduced within a 24-hour period of the first intake of beet juice, it was even in people with normally low blood pressure.

Laughing Thanks for posting this thread menino. I've been living on junk food uninterruptedly for three months, feel it and look it. I like the list of good food, the only item I've never really tried is pomegranate juice. We do have it here and I should seriously try it. Time for me to buckle down and do the good stuff and the list of perfect food is a good start. I know eggs are really very good, but obviously in balance with everything else in the list, particularly fresh vegetables. Very Happy

In my respect Good food categories is follow

Fruits and olive oil;
Raw Vegetables / Cooked Vegetables;
Grains and Pasta;
Nuts & Seeds;
Unrefined sugars (often brown).
fruits espacilly high in acid like oranges, pineapples , sour apples , sour plums, lemons , grapefruits,sour peaches ,etc
These are detoxifying fruits and excellent foods. They should be avoided when you have the flu because the body could overreact detoxifying and make you even more sick.

The interesting thing is that all the healthy foods are provided by nature ( like fruits and vegetables) and are best in their raw form. Food cooked by human are delicious but in terms of food value, nothing near the originals. It is an established fact that all types of food suppliments ( health drinks etc) are bad in long terms.
shivaghimire
Fruits and vegetables are healthy foods but we cook them to make delicious but the healthiness declines by cooking them. Cooking food is good for our tongue but eating raw is good for our health. So, its better to eat raw vegetables and fruits but it should be properly washed.

Uh, citation needed. I'm pretty sure vitamin pills aren't harming you.

Raw Paleo Diet anyone?
Nothing more healthier than a fresh raw meat. Very Happy
It's 100% organic and natural. No preservatives.

I heard some people do this diet to cure/prevent certain ailments.
I'm not sure though, I have not verified or read a lot about this sort of diet.

Oh man, my diet is my weak spot. I east almost exclusively meats, dairy and pasta/bread/rice with only a few vegetables per week.

It's really weird because I love fruit, but when Im hungry I can only think about "MEAT MEAT MEAT... oh and some PASTA PASTA PASTA" and after eating that, I don't have any more room for fruits Confused

Taking vitamin pills in excess and for prolonged time certainly has a health hazard. There are several disease caused by consumtion of excess vitamins. In medical terminology, these are known as Toxicity Symptoms. Every vitamin has it. Some references --

Lol Deanhills.

I had heard sometime ago that drinking excess water can be bad for you, as posted in this article below, but in my opinion, it may be an isolated case, and also there's a good reason for it, but I doubt anyone drinks over 2 gallons of water a day. I find it difficult to drink 8 glasses of water a day, unless I'm walking in the heat, and that too, I will feel dehydrated and thirsty anyways. In the office environment, I find it difficult to drink so many glasses of water a day.. I usually drink about 5 - 6 small glasses of water a day, in the office, and at home, about an average of 3 glasses of water a day.
In any case, moderate amounts of water are ok, but I guess your body needs to tell you how much it requires, if it needs more.

Totally agreed. Moderation and listen to what the body needs. Like if one would eat salty food, one would probably need lots more water. If one drinks wine, probably good to drink a glass of water along with the wine. Very Happy

Fruits and Green vegetables are very good source for make your self fit and healthy.

Actually taking lots of water ( usually more than the volume of blood in human body which is >5Lt) at a time can destroy the PH balance in the body. This can, in worst case lead to brain matter dialation and even can lead to death. However if the same amount is consumed in a span of 24hours, it is good for health. In general TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING WITHIN SHORT SPAN IS BAD.

I am not sure about milk, in all its forms, check this out.

Lobstars and Crabs are specificaly allergic items and not suitable for everyone. Also any type of red meat contains high degree of cholesterol and is not suitable for heart patients.
rogue_skydragon
This is actually extremely good to know. I berries and nuts are indeed hard to come by and are usually more expensive where I'm from compared to other regions. Also, now that I'm trying to build mass, I will be making sure to have eggs as much as I can every breakfast.
nigam
thanks for the tips...i have been eating fruits and vegetables all the time and this keeps me more healthier....i seldom eat pork or the oily foods because i feel heavy once i ate this...also, i use green tea twice a day....
