Burning faster and easily

Da Rossa
Hi
I'm looking for a free and simple burning software. Not bloated please.
What I really need is to make the burning task more automated, such as creating a text file with the paths to files to be burnt. Such as:
Code:

C:\Desktop\file1.txt
C:\Desktop\file2.txt
C:\music\stupidmusic.mp3
.
.
.

I mean, an utility that reads this txt file with the content to burn then use the preset configuration to burn.

I think there is at least one around. Thanks!

Are you wanting to repeatedly burn the same contents multiple times? In that case choose a program that can "burn to disc" as an ISO and then just burn that ISO to the disc whenever you want those contents.

Otherwise, almost any burning software will do what your talking about using a standard GUI, no reason to use a text file.

This is a good choice:

No no that not exactly what I want, I mean, burning the same compilation multiple times could come as handy with the text file, but that's beyond that.

Its because I have to create the filelists more quickly, so I take advantage of another program that gets the file or list of files paths.

Then, with autohotkey I would be able to create that text file automatically and then save it later so I'll be able to search what has been burnt in the past easily. With the nero compilations files, that we can't help it not opening the nero GUI, I'd have to go through one by one until I find the file or files I'm after.

Got it? Very Happy

It is a bit specific. The text file you should write your own application to read the contents. Find a program which works with command line and tada. let some magic happen Wink
Da Rossa
Err... I'm not capable of writing applications...
And even worse: whats "tada"? Embarassed

I use CDBurnerXP. There is an excellent article comparing Free CD/DVD burning software on this website: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-cd-dvd-burning-software.htm

I often use techsupportalert to find great freeware programs.

With regards to what you're looking for: CDBurnerXP isn't resource heavy at all, very lightweight, very reliable, and capable of burning just about anything. Additionally, if you decide that you want functionality, go with the top recommended free product: ImgBurn.

As a side note, I hate crapping around with people who try to argue with the Original Poster about what they should be looking for, instead of just keeping their gob shut if they don't have a recommendation. Much like what's happening above.

Thanks guys.
I'll stick with imgburn, which I recently found out that supports command line options.

Thanks! (and for that reviews page too!)

I once used Nero, but once i discovered Imgburn I never went back. Its so light and cuts the bloat and works great!
Da Rossa
ImgBurn is also user-friendly Razz

Roxio is much better than NERO. And it even writes fast and it's efficient also.

I also use Roxio, and I used Nero before, and have had the exact same experience. Roxio is definitely faster and more efficient.

Magicians say it Razz What i meant was look for a command line disk burning program. But since you can not program you can state in steps what is happening and what your input is. What makes the text file? How does the application knows which text file to burn? Design the application and find a command line burning application and I could help you Smile
Da Rossa
Now I get it!
But the solution I found was diggin deep into ImgBurn. I found out about its command line capabiliuties, then what I've written was an AHK (Autohotkey) shortcut to type this inside the command prompt:
Code:

imgburn /dest G /speed 4x /verify yes /start /log "IBb_label-in-here__14-02-10__23-01-15.log" /mode build /srclist "C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Desktop\l.txt" /volumelabel "label-in-here"

This works pretty well for data discs.

For a single image disk to be burnt, like an iso file, just
Code:

imgburn /dest G /speed 4x /verify yes /mode write /start /log "IB-w__14-02-2010__23-01-55.log" /src "path's_source" /volumelabel "label-in-here"

For ones that use/used Roxio: what about Roxio x ImgBurn, what do you think?

Thanks man. I too was looking for a good alternative of Nero. I find ImgBurn really great. It creates images in ISO, not in some nrg, bin, cce etc useless formats.

I'm using UltraISO it seems to work great.

Good hints. I don't use too many applications on a daily basis. That's why I prefer free software most of the time. I'll check that for later use.
