Any runners?

post-gazette
I wondering if any of you out there were runners of any kind. Track, Cross Country, Marathon, Runner for Fun, etc. I'm a Corss-Country and a Track runner and I'm really into it. If your're looking for a sport that's fun really fufilling, and great for you, Cross-Sountry is the way to go. I obviously highly recomned it. Well anyways post anything running here.

I run... in fact, just had a race this afternoon- my personal record of the season at 18:34 for a 5K. I'm hoping to break 18 to have my career personal record broken.

i ran stockholm marathon a couple of days ago, 3rd of june to be precise. it's just a hobby, it took me 3h 56min to finish. 42.195km is a little bit too long distance to run, but it was a great feeling to finish. i felt like a olympic winner... almost cried...

and it wasn't just a marathon. i had 2 boat trips (finland-sweden-finland) and that was fun too, something not a weekday thing to do.

running is a good hobby, if you only remember to start slow enough. and walk too, if neccessary. when you get into decent condition, it's real fun.

I aggree, running is great! A lot of people think that I am crazy because I like running, but that is probably because running really sucks when you are unfit.

It is difficult to get in to, but after a while you get a huge kick from it, you just need to get through the initial pain! Other sports can be fun and easier to start. Running is all about "going the distance" and not the immediate. Life is like that too! Wink

I like to run also, but I am not real consistent. I seem to have more fun (and thus am drawn more towards) friendly competitive sports like pick-up basketball. What motivates your running, is it plain exercise, trying to better your times, do you train with others, or other reasons?

I've been running about 25 years. When I was younger I competed at track races and marathons. At the moment my main goals are in ultrarunning. Couple of weeks ago I ran my third 100k race and I'm dreaming of participating Spartathlon in future. Not in this year, but maby next.

For me it's a way of life. When I have for example some kind of injury that prevents running I feel kind of empty. Running is not the only sport for me, I train with bicycle (both road and XC), participate in orienteering happenings, during winters I do XC-skiing. But there is no other sport that gives me such a pleasure than long distance running. It's hard to explain to others.
