Do you think that fate is real and controlling us, if you believe in fate what is it, why does it exist.

Well it a matter of personal belief in my opinion. The whole idea is the submission to the fact that someone has designed a system and the outcome is known. If you believe in such thing or theory then yes fate makes sense to you. However I personally have slowly moved away from believing in it. I personally think that it is true that everything that we do is somehow linked to something else (action/event etc). And it influences the outcome of things but it is not decided or known upfront. Everything just happens and there are some results of this which are sometimes nice and sometimes not nice. You need to be able to accept it.
Like most of us, I was trained do not to believe in a fate and be a master of own destiny.
But after the same pattern repeats again and again and again, for a very long period of time - decades, all your life, one starts to wonder if the fate is the name for this.
Even if this is not a superior force's doing, but a complex of hereditary, biological, cultural and socio-economical factors influencing repeated outcome of individual's experience, the result is the same.
Maybe denying it is an optimism, expecting only the good from a life, but any reasonable person sooner or later have to face facts of life and become realistic.

I only believe in social determinism - that culture and society shape our minds and our minds shape our life. No wonder why there are so many similar people, they are just the product of their society, the "clean" product without and flaws. And then there are products gone wrong - people who question, people who don't accept certain social values.
And from a scientific point of view quantum physics says there's no determinism, only statistical probability and I agree with that.
