I'm offering FRIH$ 100 for helping me in area where I failed: how to find a forum (or other interactive place on Internet) with people who think like you do and have the same values (not too common). Specific advice, not general ("Do the Google search").
What already tried:
- Google search, specific and general.
- Check topics of interest and see if people like me are there. Doesn't help, they are dominated by others.
- Social networking sites (Facebook, My Space, Twitter) are for different age and social groups, and designated for a different task: exposing real life data to a strangers and being involved in meaningless (for me, naturally) small talk.
I'm trying to find people that are just like me in order to find out how they are solving common daily problems, finding meaning of life and keep their sanity in this world.
Well you know the old saying, if you want something done right - you gotta do it yourself. Start a forum dealing with things of concern to you and your values, and hopefuly a community will develop. While it is hard to find what you're looking for, I mean search engines can't really help you if you're looking for people of similar mindset, you could search for common topics of interest etc. But personaly I've always found that people who like things I like definetely don't have the same mindset as myself, nor did I ever feel like talking to them. It is hard to be abstract on such a topic, perhaps if you specify what it is you're looking for it'd be easier for us to help you find it. What is this state of mind you're looking for?
However you might want to consider that people who had/have similar mindset to you might not necesaraly wish to show it. Also, you mentioned exposing your real life data to strangers, well that's how it works - you chance it or you observe and most likely end up making a miscalculation or never bother in the end to take part.
There's usualy two kinds of small-talk and people associated with it. There are those who actively take interest in what is being said and find it fascinating enough to occupy them for a lifetime, Ignorance is bliss they say. And then there's the second ground who use small talk to learn to respect the other person for what is not being said, appreciate the ability to delight in small everyday things and finaly appreciate the irony and dark humour of the "Ignorance is bliss" phrase. Also, meaning is an entirely human concept, it is individual and self-proclaimed, read up on nihilism (but then again the idea of nihilism expressed to the wide public, wikipedia for example, is wrong and highly misleading, probably writen by an idiot trying to be philosophical). And finaly - who said we keep our sanity? It is much more delightful to go insane, but then again what is sane but a comparison of yours to the average of the human's species mindset? Whatever works.

I thought about that too. But it is quite possible that such communities already exist, who knows? I visited social networking websites, they work on different principles than forums, and forums, topic oriented, are closer to what I have in mind. If I'll be not able to find already existing community, I'll give this a try.
|But personally I've always found that people who like things I like definitely don't have the same mindset as myself, nor did I ever feel like talking to them. |
Same with my interest: find people with the same mind set, that I'll like to talk to and feel at easy there.
Even more general, find if it is possible - for anyone, including me - to find people who think like you do, act like you do, have similar mindset. Or, as a result of this search, make sure that personalities are so unique that such search is pointless because of nature of things.

Thought about this and tried, this is counter-productive. Stereotypes and wrong assumptions, based on one's socio-biological status, starts to get involved. Interests you should have, but you don't have them. And how your kind should be treated...
What I'm looking for.
You know, there are many things in reality that are usually advised to "ask a friend" and "ask around". Tried in real life, my own results are usually better and I, in my own turn, pass this information around. Tried "ask around" on country-specific forum and on wider, common for neighboring countries culture, forums. Too different backgrounds, different possibilities and problems. You know, forums usually become dominated by group, having a lot in common. I went from forum to forum, for years now, and no similar group was found.
Part of life-long learning about how the world around us works
