Um... Kapersky? Oh dear. Kapersky is up there with Norton on the "things you definitely don't want on your computer" scale.

My advice? Remove Kapersky and install a free package with good reviews. That's the only way you're going to be able to get a decent speed web browsing.

I've been running Kaspersky for about a year now with no problems. The 2010 is much faster than earlier versions. What's you computer specs? Here's mine if you're wondering:

4x Intel Xeon Quad 2.8 GHz (4 cores)
2 GB ram
600 GB (1x500 2x40)
9500 GT

I probably wouldn't recommend it on a laptop, although it should work fine on a somewhat powerful desktop. Try Comodo, it's light and secure.

I'm also running Kaspersky. I changed from Norton Virus last year and found an enormous difference with Kaspersky running much faster.

Could it be that you started with a trial version and copied a new version over the trial version? Maybe your Kaspersky has its "knickers in a knot"? Smile

Try disabling the real-time virus protection. (I don't know if that will make it faster)

That's a bad idea, without real-time protection your running the AV for no reason. Real-time protection detects programs you've downloaded, so if you turn it off you have to manually scan everything.
