Who Here Uses Joomla?

Who all uses Joomla here? Or is experienced with joomla? i have been using joomla for quite some time now and i don't think i would trade it for any other CMS system out there!

The main reason im asking is i have a lot of small projects that i need some help with if anyone that's skilled enough with php and mySQL is willing to help. Im using joomla and jomsocial and i need to integrate uddeim and jomsocial also i use puarcade component that's modded and it sends messages to users when their high score gets beat from another user and i need to get that working for jomsocial as well. If anyone has any knowledge regarding joomla, or php and mysql period and is willing to shed some light on this situation for me i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again for your help.

I like joomla but it has its drawbacks.

Use Drupal when:
* you want a rock solid & high quality platform for your sites
* you want or need a real multi-site-feature (only one installation for several sites)
* you need any kind of user groups & user permissions
* you need to run also membership- and community sites, not only CMS etc
* you want a Powerful templating system
* you're ready to invest a bit of your time in order to realize all the huge possibilities of Drupal
* you understand the meaning of clear, high quality code and API (easy to integrate with other solutions etc)
* you want flexibility and don't like limitations

Whoever was the original poster of this just simply hated joomla and nothing more.. either that or they never took the time to look further into joomla...

For 1 i have been using joomla for some time now (years) and i have ALWAYS monitored my server resources and since 1.5 release plus my own personal modification i can honestly say its very server resource friendly!

2: there is joomla components that will allow you to run multiple sites from joomla.
3:There IS most definitely user groups and user permissions in joomla!! (someone was misinformed here)
4:joomla has handfuls of member and community site plugins, modules, components etc... Community builder for joomla and jomsocial to name a couple
5:Powerful templating system? Has this person EVER used joomla!! Very Happy
6: "you're ready to invest a bit of your time in order to realize all the huge possibilities of Drupal" I think whoever said this should have took their own advice with joomla before posting this incorrect information
7:joomla is VERY flexable and limitations? It doesn't matter WHAT CMS you use... your limitations are soley based on YOU! if you know mysql and php theres about nothing you cant do....

I have heard of Joomla, and wanted to use it, as it looks really cool but I couldn't figure it out either, of course I have knowledge of phpbb3 and HTML, So this is no longer a problem for me.

I know that there where a few problems with security in the past, but Joomla isn't the only CMS that suffered from this! I never got hacked while using Joomla, and I think as long as you keep your installation updated there shouldn't be a problem (like for most software). Wink

Actually, the original poster was quite right... when he posted it, which was several years ago. Joomla has improved since then.

Having said that, even now, Drupal's module system is far more powerful than Joomla's plugins/modules/components. Drupal's templating system is also more powerful. And Drupal is far easier to develop for than Joomla.

They're both good for content management, but Drupal provides a VERY solid, minimal core that you can extend ad infinitum, while Joomla provides a lot of features in core and is generally easier to set up. I personally prefer Drupal, but Joomla does have its merits.
