Many networks like those at schools and offices have HTTP proxies that have to be used.

You should get a list of server that allow you to connect.
But that may slow in speed.
You will have to wait a bit when doing the activation.

firstly, ms disabled the phone activation thingy

Are you sure they did ? I haven't heard/read about this news. You have any references ?
well i didnt read it anywhere.i saw it when i tried to activate it.the option is disabled.you cnt click on it.

Perhaps unplug your ethernet, reboot, then try activating it over the phone.
