Pictures of the North Yorkshire Dales

Went into the Dales earlier this week with a friend from the camera club, hoping to get some good waterfall shots and also Ribblehead Viaduct in the sunset. Through the arches is Whernside, last on the circuit of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (3 mountains over 24 miles in 12 hours!!!)...I must say, I'd done only about 5 miles walking that day, but the thought of walking up those 3 big lumps wasn't an attractive one at all.

Here's Scaleber Force, on the road from Airton to Settle

Great! My only criticism: it almost looks too glamorous! (Lord of the Ring style)

After looking at the top photo for ages I decided to re-process it's RAW file to use in a competition...do you think this is better than the top picture?

It's hard to say.

I personally don't really like either of them. The most recent one you just posted has too many different strong colors and they are conflicting with each other. There is way too much of a pink color in the most recent one you posted. I don't think I'd enter that one in a competition.

Your others are great though, especially the waterfall ones. Though you kind of over did the blue on the last waterfall picture in my opinion.

Good work though!

I don't. I think the first one looks good because the colors are nicer, it's more like an artistic photo and less like something ya just shot when you were passing by mid-day. I think the colors really make the picture, the darkness enhances everything.

Just my opinion, though. Not like I'm an accomplished art critic or anything Razz

No, the first one is better. There is way more interesting light coming through that one. When you reprocessed the image, it made the colors look more unnatural. So unless that's the feeling you're going for, I'd use the top one. In fact, I might even enhance the light that is streaming through the structure. That's where the magic of this photo is.

Hope you win!

Once again, thank you for the comments....strange that I really like the re-done full bridge shot.
I have a club competition coming up in a week or two, so will look again at this RAW image & try to make the very best I can of it.
