Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity

_AVG_
Hi,

I'm working on a comparison between Particle Physics and Astrophysics but for that I need to know the basic similarities and differences between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity.

So, is there a web site that gives a simplistic comparison between QM and GR? Even if you know of an advanced comparison, please do tell me.

If you don't know of a site but know of some comparisons, particularly differences, please could you tell me and I'll ask you to explain if I don't understand.

Thanks,

I doubt it.
If you think about it for a while:
QM - geometric, quantised, observer dependant, describes the sub-microscopic, probabilistic
GR - non-geometric, non-quantised, observer independent, describes the macroscopic, deterministic

In many important aspects they are almost opposites.
Couple that to the fact that the maths for either is very non-trivial (ie HARD), and then add the fact that everytime anyone tries to bring the two together we get infinities sprouting like mushrooms on a corpse.

Which is more 'right'? Both work at the appropriate scale and neither works at the scale of the other. So, (probably) neither.
Which is the more fundamental? I can't see how an observer independant model could give rise to an observer dependant model, so (probably) neither.

If you want a guess - both will turn out to be part of a greater theory which will encompass all scales of existence. Some think we already have that theory within reach - supersymmetric string theorists and Loop Quantum Gravity theorists are working in this area.....
