Help me choosing file hosting service.

Hi,

I just want to store my files (some ebooks and technical diagrams) and link them from my website to download. Which service do you think good for this purpose. I don't want my visitors to jump to other sites, they should be able to download files just by clicking once on the link on my pages.

Your experience and suggestions are highly appreciated.

Why not host them here? As long as you have a website in context to those files, there shouldn't be a problem. When you say 'some' , I'm thinking 5-25. As long as there are no high-resolution images in those books (technical diagrams should be in a vector format anyway), the books shouldn't be more than a few megabyte.

I don't think there are filehosters, that allow hotlinking, nowadays.

I try to be a bit more smart. If I host the images too from here itself, it takes lot of time to backup home directory and in case the site is hacked, it will take much longer time to restore. If only scripts are here and the files on some other space, it will take not more than 5 minutes to restore backup. Moreover I can handle the pictures separately.

Do you know any file services to host my pictures?

Not sure what you are asking for exactly.

You want users to be able to download a file right off of your website, is there any reason you cannot host the files on your own server?

If you are just talking about images, I'd recommend www.photobucket.com though I am still not sure if that is what you are looking for.
