So, anyone know of a decent application for editing/composing MIDI stuff? I'm aware of several, and I've installed a couple, but I was wondering if anyone had any good experiences with anything. Especially those of you who've actually composed stuff. I intend to put in some time trying to learn one with decent capabilities, so I'd prefer something that didn't stick to the sheet music format.
Can anyone recommend a MIDI editor?
I think that a good editor for create is Cubase, but isn't easy to use...

Cubase is indeed very good... but not really for MIDI editing.
My suggestion is Anvil Studio. It's free and it's what I use myself. I usually compose the MIDI in Anvil Studio and then import it into Cubase so I can apply VST instruments and effects etc. Cubase Studio is i.m.o. quite a pain when it comes to MIDI editing. It's really good at basically everything else, though. I havn't tried Cubase 5 though, so I don't know if it's better.

Ha, in the meantime I actually went and grabbed Anvil. I haven't put much time into it though, but I'm making progress.
Does anyone know a good midi editor for Linux?
The only one I know of is RoseGarden, but I have no idea as to its quality.
I use Noteworthy Composer - http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/
Very easy to use, and it uses the keyboard for input rather than the mouse in a very intuitive fashion.
I MUCH prefer it to Finale and Sibelius which are the only other ones I've used.
