Moding cars

Anyone know how much it would be to put a spoiler on the back and an entire body kit on a 1996 for contour?
Thanks.

The price varies due to different prices for the (1)spoilers and (2)the body kit. Spoilers can cost anywhere from $100 and up where as the body kits I've seen them at a price range from $500 to $1200. All currencies US. There are many different styles of spoilers and body kits too, not to mention.Wink You would, hence, need to be more specific.

It also depends on where you order the kits from, many online stores have huge differences in prices for the exact same part...

yeah they are all so very right... uum if u want a nice one made by a good company with an original deisgn it will cost alot more than a crappy one made by a bad company with a boring normal design....
and a ford contour im sorry to say this but thats not a good car to try to fix up.....

just stick to a stock form. Change your stock spring to lowering spring to make it lowered. And your good to go Very Happy

Most cars are high enough to just cut the original springs a little Wink

I have lowered the car by like 5 inches just by cutting the original springs. If I want it even lower I need harder springs though. (otherwise the car with touch the road whenever there´s a slight bump in the road)

you cut your springs? something i'd never do! On a progressively wound spring, you'll change the characteristics of the spring, and probably kill the shocks fairly quickly. On a macpherson strut, you've also got the possibility of it coming out its seat if you cut it too much. Easier just to go for uprated lowering springs, or a set of coilovers (especially if you want to ratain some level of comfort).

I run a mega-stiff setup on my clio, and it was definetly worth the money (even if the roads are a little too rough here in the uk)

Well, it´s all about your budget Wink
If you cut the springs too much the will act bad on the road, the police might not like what they see, and as you said they can jump out of their "sockets".

But if you do it right it´s quite a nice option instead of buying quite expensive new lowering springs.
And yeah, if they are progressive you should cut the softest part since you want the suspension to be really stiff so your car wont hit the ground Wink

You can do this with a very low budget:

This is the same car using a little higher budget:

Can you see the difference?

nope, they both look bad! Laughing

seriously though, not a fan of bodykits, as kit manufacturers/designers tend to go a little OTT, and alot of kits end up with very similar looks (which tend to verge on japanese styling). I personally think its wrong to throw a big japenese styled kit on a vauxhall corsa, or vw golf, or anything that never had the lines to suit the bodykit in the first place.

Also, here in the UK, if I see a kitted car, its usually as good as saying the car has next to no power! Laughing
