I'm a fairly new web designer, and some of my clients have asked for Flash sites. I know they're awful for SEO and accessibility, but some people are adamant about it. In any case, is it better to use as low a version of Flash to save the sites as possible, so that there's a greater chance the visitor will already have it? Is there some hidden downside I'm not seeing?
Flash websites: Is using lower versions of Flash better?
most people keep up 2 date with there flash but those with crappy computers will proberly have a lower version than the site u make it in
the site owner will seen realise u are correct but let him have his wish just use flash player 9

At my work, we're publishing for 8 and above. Does your client have Google Analytics installed on their current site? If so, you can pretty clearly see what flash version visitors have installed. That would be what I would use to make this determination.
