Gangtok is basically famous for monastries,the most famous of which is Rumtek Monastry.
Also dont miss Gangtok zoo.It has a good collection of Red Pandas.

Yes gangtok is a paradise on earth..it's really an amazing place....it's very neat & clean city. The law and order maintained by the state government is highly appreciable, and they take every possible care for the visiting tourists. Tourists visit there from all over India(the country) and from foreign countries too. From Gangtok one may get convenience for visiting near by places in sikkim. There are government supported posts which counsel tourists make them available with the the correct information. Though tourist keep visiting gangtok throughout the year but the favourable season is in the month of december & january. Smile
