Is Obama working on points to get his poll ratings up?

Don't understand why we need to know what Obama is reading. Just picked up on an article about his literature, and wonder where he gets time for that when he has to be one of the busiest people in the United States. This is the list of the books he is reading:
Quote:
The Way Home by George Pelecanos, a crime thriller based in Washington, D.C.;
Lush Life by Richard Price, a story of race and class set in New York's Lower East Side;
Tom Friedman's Hot, Flat, and Crowded, on the benefits to America of an environmental revolution;
John Adams by David McCullough;
Plainsong by Kent Haruf, a drama about the life of eight different characters living in a Colorado prairie community.

Do you think he is really reading these books, or is this just an attempt to get his poll ratings up again? Think

The article compares his reading with what Bush read. That probably already says that the information is being released for political reasons rather than personal interest reasons.

Given his performance in the healthcare debacle, I'd agree that he's just trying to change the subject. There's nothing like a little Bush attacking to rile up his base. If he wanted to read something that will be of use, he may want to start here:

That was a good one ...... maybe we should send a complimentary copy to him Laughing Laughing Laughing

While I was "Googling" Economics for Dummies, it came up with this one too, really looks like a good one for at least making the study of economics digestable: Smile

LMAO.....ya really, economics for dummies. See Mr. Obama, the way it works is this:
You can NOT cut taxes on 95% of the population as you promised during the campaign, AND
put in a bunch of new government programs/spending (bank bailout, auto industry bailout,
Cash for Clunkers, national health care) AND get the deficit under control as you also promised.

See, when you CUT the amount of money coming in and RAISE the amount of money going
out....you actually make the national debt WORSE....MUCH WORSE! That's why I called him
the Santa Claus candidate. Tell everyone what they want to hear, even when it is totally
unrealistic. It is a measure of how ignorant many people in this country are, that very few
thought to question him on this.....including those in the media who are kind of supposed to
be doing that as their jobs. Course when you want a guy to win, you are less likely to question
him I guess. That has ALWAYS been our nations problem under Democrats OR Republicans.
It is politically popular to run deficits.....people get tax cuts and increases in government services.
Who DOESN'T like that? Problem is, there is a bill to pay at the end of this. Kind of remind me
of my friend who has been going to college for 15 years cause once he finishes he will have to
start paying his student loans back. How is he continuing to pay for college? You guessed it....
MORE student loans!!!!

Enjoyed your posting Alaska. It does sound elementary doesn't it, and maybe too simple. Especially when 1.2-trillion package was voted to bale out "the banks" and the nation, on top of an already enormous multi-trillion debt situation, and in spite of that, and especially when the legislators showed Obama how much more expensive his proposed universal health care system was going to be than what Obama had originally estimated, that Obama still continued to fight for it. A real leader would have seen the writing on the wall for the bill, conceded defeat "for this round only", and then given notice of sending it back to his advisors to come up with something that is more acceptable.

Much more important at this time should be Obama's presentation of the Budget that he so easily postponed while he was on his enormous marketing exercise of the Health Care Bill.

It is a tradition to give a press release containing what the President is reading on holiday. How is this Bush-baiting?

Um... question...
The bailout package was passed under the understanding that it was just to prevent catastrophe, and would be followed by legislative reforms that would prevent further problems later...

What happened to those reforms? What new laws have been put into effect to prevent another crisis?

And isn't that more urgent than health care?
