Arsenal looking strong

_AVG_
6 - 1 over Everton away from home speaks for itself.

And everyone .. I mean EVERYONE came to the party ... newbie Vermalen, Denilson, even Eduardo seemed to find form!

Looks like Wenger's "youths" seem to be growing up!

Arsenal looking strong for the title this year. Very Happy

That's a very good start for Arsenal. But I doubt They'll be strong enough for the entire season without additional replacement for departing players. CB position is definitely very thin, and no DM like Gilberto or Flamini or Diarra yet. Song might be good enough for most of the teams in EPL, but when facing the likes of MU or Barcelona, he might not be prepared yet. I think Wenger will sign at least one more player before the transfer deadline closes.
Back to the Everton match. Glad to see Caption Cesc scored two and made 2 assists. I'm still not convinced on Denilson yet. He lacked the physical presence required for DM position. Another positive note is Eduardo start playing and scoring again! Overall it's a nice spirit boost for Arsenal players.

Arsenal won again at Celtic, 2-0. This result means a place in Champions League is practically sealed, except if we played super bad football at home (like last year's semifinal second leg). It's nice to see this young team finally has the mentality and composure to be champions. Hope we win something big this year! Very Happy

That's quite impressive as Arsenal were missing some key players to injuries.

I think that now Arsenal are the only team besides Nottingham Forest to have beaten Celtic away from home !

Arsenal won again, this time at home against Portsmouth 4-1. Although the scoreline looked pretty impressive, but I think overall performance was just above average. There's a lot of defensive errors at the middle and back, and We're fortunate that Gallas didn't get red card for his "foul" on Utaka. It would be a game changing moment without a doubt. Gibbs were also exposed so many times I wonder why Wenger didn't replace him. Fortunately he didn't cost us points.
On the positive note, great game by Fabregas. He totally controlled the midfield in the first half. Hope his hamstring is ok, I don't wanna miss him against United on the next weekend! They lost their main keeper and CB (also captain) , so It would be a very good chance to beat them an tighten the grip on the top.

All that said and done, 10 goals in the first two games is quite something.

I mean, over the seasons, Arsenal have had trouble going forward and finishing but that doesn't seem a problem now, does it? Everyone seems to be firing in goals with ease!

With Man Utd's strong attacking performance against Wigan as well, I think we can expect a cracker of a game on 29th!

I really liked the new style of the gunners. Even the boss hailed the new 4-3-3 formation which enables even the midfielders to roam and score decent goals. 12 goals in 3 games is something very pleasing and I would like to see Arsenal doing the same against the most of the teams. I don't care if we lose to the big three as long as we beat all the teams below the big four.

Also it seems that the team has grown up a bit. I watched all the 3 games and it seems that:

- Eduardo is back to his usual performance
- Fabregas is going to become more better than Gerrard and Lampard.
- Gallas and new boy Vermaelen are getting to adopt each other.
- Alex Song is more better than last year.
- Denilson go experience
- It looks as this is Abou Diaby's year.
- Van Persie, Bendtner and Arshavin are the massive.
- Clichy and Sagna are capable of shutting every winger up.
- Almunia is solid.

I would be pleased to see an average of 5 goals in every game.

I follow Arsenal a bit, because Robin van Persie plays there.
I think they can get the title this year, I think that because of the match against everton.
r4inm4ker
They win again Yesterday...though the most talked topic was eduardo's "dive". I'm not really sure it's 100% dive because some people said there's contact from some replay angles. But definitely not a penalty. I hate divers, and I really hope that Eduardo doesn't do this kind of act often, because I respect him a lot. Especially for important and big matches, I didn't like a game to be decided by some unprofessional acts from some players. But overall it's a very good performance from the gunners, and hope that they carry it to the next game against United.
Btw, the score is 3-1 to Arsenal, and 5-1 on aggregate.
Ben_Carrington
The lost yesterday but they did not have lot of luck. They play a litlle bit like barcelona 2009. I do not know if they will be able to win the Premiership. In fact, I think that is very important to have some older players. There is Gallas but may be it is not enough.
r4inm4ker
yeah, it's sad that we still didn't have the mentality to win important games. There have been a lot of times in the past when We're leading and couldn't keep it to the end, and apparently the problem still exist now. Unfortunately Wenger seems to be not bother with adding the squad with some experienced DM or CB... I really hope that his decision is the right one, because the currently the squad is quite thin IMHO, especially on the defensive roles.

r4inm4ker, that doesn't matter. It was a little error and Manchester United's anti-football tactics. But we are back. I am sure Arsenal will beat all those below BIG 4 and thats awesome. We only need Chelsea to drop points as they are the only title challengers this year.

Well, I guess it matters, because again at Manchester Stadium, we lost due to lack of concentration and mentality to win such an important game. To say MU is anti-football is a bit exaggerated I think, although it came out from the mouth of Mr Wenger, because there're a lot of other teams with more negative plays. And who'd never defended like that before? Arsenal themselves are doing that in Champions League Final 2006. So it's up to us to break the defense down, and we're not able to do that in those two games again Manchesters.
Again in the Champions League group stage wednesday, We almost lost due to lack of concentration at the back particularly. If we're facing much stronger team than the Belgian (no offense to Standard de Liege fans), I really doubt we could come back and win the game. Hope that today they got back the winning confidence and concentration.
Ben_Carrington
Yep, it is not so easy for Arsenal. They looks very strong but somtimes they don't. May be they are a litlle bit unlucky. I think the victory 2-3 in champions league will help them for the season.
r4inm4ker
Two wins and double clean sheet last week..4-0 against Wigan in League match and 2-0 against west-brom in Carling Cup match, not bad at all. Rosicky returning was very welcomed, it's like a new buy! and he's very experienced, added a lot of variety in the midfield. The back line still looks shaky though, we're fortunate not to concede in Wigan match. With the return of Arshavin into the squad tomorrow, hope that we could grab a comfortable win against Fulham. It's a quite tricky match, considering Fulham are very good at home.
_AVG_
Yes. Very good results against Wigan and in the Carling Cup as well. The youngsters performed very well against West Brom.

But ... here are the worrying concerns ... although Arsenal may look extremely strong against the mediocre or shall I say average teams if mediocre sounds a bit degrading, they seem to be struggling against the big guns ... this season, they have losses against Man Utd and Man City. If this continues against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, etc., I'm afraid Arsenal cannot win the Premier League. Look at Chelsea ... they haven't dropped a point so far! That's how competitive it is and you have to make the big games count ...
r4inm4ker
Finally,a hard-fought 1-0 win away against a team which we had pretty bad record with, Fulham. Glad to see our players have the determination to hold on the lead, largely thanks to those wonderful saves from Mannone. But Diaby really played very badly. Wenger needs to drop him for a while. Yesterday his "contribution" to the team was giving the ball away to the opponents. It's like 12 vs 10, really. Hope that Rosicky and Nasri regain their fitness quickly. Rosicky really showed his capability yesterday. Held the ball very well, great defending, great passing and vision.
r4inm4ker
Four consecutive league wins..very good result for Arsenal against Birmingham yesterday. Although again, the team lacks the mentality to kill game early on when leading 2-0, but nice to see the goals from Van Persie and Arshavin (and Diaby too, lol). Hope the momentum continues and we can kick spurs' asses at the end of October :p
Ben_Carrington
What a wonderful goal of Arshavin. This guy is a great footballer. Arsenal is good now.
jmlworld
Guys, it will not be long before Gunners take the lead. 27 goals, 18 points and 4 points behind the leaders Manchester United with still Bolton game on hand is awesome. If Man United and Chelsea lose to Liverpool and Citizens and we beat poor Westham 4 nill, we will go just one point behind Manchester United and with the same points as Chelsea with more goal difference.

It looks the Man United/Liverpool game is decisive and although Liverpool lost to minnow teams like Sunderland, Spurs and Villans, I believe they are still big four material and they can win their day in Anfield against Man United, as I hope they will (if Torres and Gerrard get their shooting boots again and shrug off from their injury).

In the other hand, Chelsea is not as hard and title favorites as some pundits suggested in the summer. Its true that Blues are the best defensive team in the EPL but they don't have the best attacking force some teams currently enjoy. We have seen how their forwards get frustrated in the defense area of Aston Villa and Wigan.

This title is for Gunners to lose...

I have two words after the Champions League Outing against AZ Alkmaar in Holland : NOT CONVINCING

Arsenal cannot keep squandering 3 points like that ! Be it the Champions League (especially when it comes to the Knockout Stage) or the Premier League.

They have got to learn how to finish off teams and kill games ! They cannot afford to sit back and relax on a one goal cushion and expect to hold on every time !

It was disappointing and it does get frustrating at times for Arsenal supporters ! Mad

I didn't see the whole game yesterday... but from what I heard from fellow gunners, it seems that we're not that interested in attacking after getting 1-0 up. And lack of concentration cost a goal and 2 points. As I said before, I agree that our players seems to lack the ability to kill off games, enabling opponents to bounce back. A very good examples would be the game against Birmingham last weekend. They (Birmingham) didn't play very well, even after 2-0 down, but still the game was kept live until Arshavin scored the third goal. If this happens to a non-top team, then it would almost definitely happen when we're playing top teams.
r4inm4ker
A very very disappointing draw against West Ham... how could we let them equalized after going up 2-0? and the opponents didn't play particularly well, at all.. I really doubt their consistency.. we couldn't win any major trophies with this kind of mentality. I think Wenger really should be more harsh to them. He had assembled a group of players that are unbeaten in the League the whole of season, he needs to do it once again!

Well, again, my point - THEY ARENT ABLE TO KILL GAMES!

Well, I kind of pity Wenger at the moment. Fans like me dislike him at the moment. No trophy for years means the board aren't fond of him either. And, if he's harsh on the players, all them being mainly "lads" whose maturity is a little above teenagers', he's going to be detested by them as well (if he already isn't)

Disappointing.. Disappointing. ..DISAPPOINTING Crying or Very sad Mad Sad

It's impossible for Arsenal go to Champion for Premier League!

Well, after that performance, I would have to disagree with you.

FINALLY! I'm relieved. And it couldn't come in a better game. All due respect to Tottenham, but Arsenal could have won by 4 or 5! An excellent performance. It's almost like Arsene heard me ....
r4inm4ker
yeah, finally a convincing win against decent side, in a heated derby match.. credit to the players, especially the back line who hold the attack so well. I really hope that this kind of consistency could last longer, lol.
r4inm4ker
Another comfortable win from Arsenal against AZ in the champions league. Very assured performance, and we're all but through the knock out stages. Hope the form continues and I didn't mind conceding some goals as long as we scored the double amount of them, lol. Again a majestic performance from Captain Cesc and the mighty (not literally Smile ) Arshavin.
slashnburn99
They looked good last night as well

won 4-1

Arsenal should win as much as possible and earn the maximum points from all the minnows (a.k.a mid-table and lower-half teams). Also they should produce a convincing display against Chelsea who will visit the grove in the end of this November.

Damn, our best striker so far, Van Persie, get seriously injured in the friendly match against Italy, and will be facing months out!!just when the season seems to be turning to our way, this shit happened. Hopefully our other strikers (Eduardo, Bendtner, Vela) could find their form while RVP is out.

edit : good news for us, Robin is out "only" for "four to six weeks", according to ESPN news.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=699080&sec=england&cc=3888

Hopefully he can recover on time (next year) where the fixtures become more and more critical.

I was shocked. I was watching the friendly match, Italy v The Netherlands and I first thought that Chiellini's tackle was little contact and Robin will be fine, but, I when I saw him being withdrawn, I thought it was a broken bone similar to the injury of Samir Nasri which forced him out for 3 months.

It's good news that it was not a broken ankle and van Persie will come back in mid December. Hopefully, we will half Theo back in the match against Chelsea. Also we are not one man team and every Arsenal player can find the back of the net these days, so fingers crossed that we will not be effected by the injury of the striker.
