No, he might well be drunk, but that's not the full explanation for the post. The Codex Gigas was put together in the thirteenth century, basically as a history. Perhaps the thinking was similar to the Great Books set published a few decades ago. It includes the books the compiler thought were most important, including the Bible, Josephus' history books and some medical texts. I do not know why it is associated with the Devil's name. None of the works I saw included in it should be considered evil. The book is likely a valuable manuscript for verifying the text of a number of works.
