Apparently, this Obama guy is popular with the media...

So, Obama made another accomplishment... He's been on a record number of Time magazine covers!

Excessive much?
deanhills
Too much coverage is also not a good thing. Becomes just too easy and boring after a while. Maybe this is one of the reasons that his ratings have gone down?

By the way, I'm not such a great fan of Time Magazine. And even less so after reading your posting ... maybe they need to rename Time Magazine to Obama Time ... Smile

I'm not a great fan of Time Magazine, however I can understand that they would like Obama for their front cover and the other way round. Obama is very strong on marketing, his strongest suit.

You're right of course, we're probably going to see quite a number of front covers again, probably going to be the greatest record for any President in the last century. Maybe in the history of all Presidents. His wife is also very photogenic, and really takes beautiful photographs. I liked Jackie Kennedy's style as first lady, but I think Michelle is much better educated and real for me. Wish she could be sent on more seirous missions like the last Olympics one. She has an incredibly strong presence and looks as though she can hold her own in any company, including Queen Elizabeth.

Just a side note: who does pay Michelles' "wardrobe assistant"?

Obama's popularity is one of the possible methods to avoid him get known by his ongoing lawsuits.

First of all, if you did a good study of Michelle, you will find her having a fantastic wardrobe long before her entry into politics. She has her own unique style, and I can't imagine her having a "wardrobe assistant", this lady knows what she wants, what works and what does not work. Both her and Obama have always been impeccably dressed. One probably also has to remember that Obama was a millionnaire for a very long time too. So possibly they could have afforded good wardrobes and made that a priority in their lives.

I'm curious about Obama's law suits you mentioned. Is there a list of these available somewhere? What are they?
Da Rossa
LOL! Calm down Dean! I was kidding about the wardrobe!! Go smoth man!!

About the lawsuits: as you know already, I'm a lousy researcher (true, that's my fear, since I'm going to be a lawyer someday, I'm currently in law school). I'll give you the criteria to find about it: the most suits are about elegibility. The one leading the actions against him is someone of whom I've been told its Alan Keyes' lawyer, named Orly Caitz.

Other one was filed by Phillip Berg, an atorney which I've been told he's democrat himself, and filed not a request for "ending Obama's political career" but only to force him show his documentation, which was allegedly incomplete so he wouldn't be able to run for the White House.

And the last one I know about (doesn't end here, some say there are or were actually eight suits) was filed by a military, on grounds that he doubted that he had the obligation to follow orders of a president whose legitimacy is questioned. I know too little about this (and the others, as you can see), but apparently this was inspired by the prior two, which were the suits that raised the question.

Ok, destroy me now. I don't have anything else to say, but I think you'll be able to find with that information. I never meant to offend you.

Laughing Laughing Last thing I want to do is destroy, I actually like your style of playing devil's advocate. However, if you do make extreme statements, then I like to see evidence and citations. Not to test you, but to provide sources that I can research for verification.

But from that criteria you can search. And even teach me how, because there are people that, even younger than me, can find quickly anything and gather as citations. That's what I'm lousy at.

OK. I did some standard searches using keywords like "Berg vs Obama", etc. etc. and landed with the following materials. It would appear that regarding the citizenship issue that there have been 17 cases, 15 of which have been dismissed, and there are two surviving ones due for hearing in October 2009 and January 2010 (see below). Then there are a number of court cases of the Gitmo detainees vs Obama (see below):
Quote:
Numerous individuals and groups had filed state or federal lawsuits seeking to have Obama disqualified from standing or being confirmed for the Presidency of the United States, or to compel him to release additional documentation relating to his citizenship.[101] By mid-December 2008, at least 17[102] lawsuits had been filed challenging Obama's eligibility in states including North Carolina,[103] Ohio,[104] Pennsylvania,[105] Hawaii,[106] Connecticut,[107] New Jersey, Texas and Washington state.[106][108] No such suit had resulted in the grant of any relief to the plaintiffs by any court.

Current cases that are going to trial
1. Berg vs Obama regarding Obama's Birth Certificate - United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit hearing set for 26 October 2009. Berg is the former Pennsylvania Deputy State Attorney General
Quote:
Berg vs. Obama is a lawsuit filed by a Philadelphia attorney who claims Barack Obama was not a natural-born citizen of the United States and therefore has no right to the U.S. presidency. U.S. law requires a president to be a natural-born citizen.Fox News: UT law grad sues Obama, questions citizenship (October 13, 2008)1 Washington Times: Lawsuit questions Obama's... (August 28, 2008)2 Obama is the Democratic Party candidate for president in the Election 2008.

2. Keyes vs Obama
Quote:
Keyes filed a lawsuit on November 14, 2008 against the California Secretary of State, then-President-elect Barack Obama, then-Vice President-elect Joe Biden, and California's 55 Democratic electors,[93][94] seeking to challenge Obama's eligibility for the US Presidency. The suit requests that Obama provide documentation that he is a natural born citizen of the United States.[95][96] In addition to his California state court lawsuit, Keyes is also a party to a federal lawsuit on this same issue.

Following Obama's inauguration, Keyes denied he had been constitutionally inaugurated, refused to call him president, and called him an "usurper" and a "radical communist".

Quote:
Dr. Orly Taitz Esq. had her day in Court, to provide evidence in her case that Barack Obama is Constitutionally ineligible to hold the Office of President.

A California judge today tentatively scheduled a trial for Jan. 26, 2010, for a case that challenges Barack Obama's eligibility to be president based on questions over his qualifications under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

If the case actually goes to arguments before U.S. District Judge David Carter, it will be the first time the merits of the dispute have been argued in open court, according to one of the attorneys working on the issue.
