Mr Sarkozy's chief of staff said the president was "doing well" and talking normally with medics at the military hospital, AFP news agency reported. Earlier, aides told AFP that the 54-year-old president was suffering from a "minor" nerve complaint. He had immediately been seen by his doctor after "feeling faint", his office said.

Great to hear he's doing well, I wonder if Obama takes jogs? Laughing

I'm certain he and Michelle have to be the healthiest of all the world leader couples. As far as I know they have almost daily workouts and look the picture too. I'm not sure however whether he is a jogger. Only picture that spoils the healthy look a little bit is that he is a smoker. Smoking cannot be good for his health. Wonder whether he is allowed to smoke in the White House, or whether he has to go outside for a puff? Laughing

I thinks that he works too much and that this is the consequences of too much activity. He must rest a bit.

Perhaps, but they do look healthy, even for their age don't you think? Smile Especially Michelle. Her muscle tone looks really great, and she does not look like your typical diet crazy person, i.e. reed thin and wearing what all the models are wearing. She is sending a very positive message. I just wish she could move away from the Betty Crocker type personality to the above average intelligent and educated professional that she really is.

Considering that we American's have gotten used to having older men and women in and around the oval office they look great. That's not really saying much when you look at the people who have come and gone before them.
Insanity
I'm pretty sure Obama is pretty well in shape. There are pictures of him going swimming and you can see that he's not fat and lazy at all. He even plays a pretty mean game of basketball, since he was on the basketball team when he was younger.

This is playing devil's advocate on a different theme, but does lazy necessarily mean fat, i.e. thin people can also be lazy, but just not get fat, by the same token are all people who are not lazy thin? I've seen quite a number of fat people working very hard in my life, anything but lazy. I guess one also probably has to define what lazy, fat and thin is, as one can be thin and out of shape at the same time. Some people who have the appearance of fat can be in better physical shape than people who are thin and not working out. Think

Your right, it really comes down to what one persons definition of lazy is, not necessarily what the dictionary says. You have to admit that "lazy" has become associated with "fat" by a lot of people.

Right, and another reason why they are battling with self-esteem. It just has such an unfair stigma attached to it. I guess I'm lucky I'm more or less normal. I walk into a room and I get accepted with rarely more than a glance. I have nothing to prove and have a fighting chance when I get up, to be listened to with more or less an open mind. But if someone of great bulk should walk in, they would be immediately pre-judged and have a greater job to say what they have to say. Quite a number deal with it with good humour and entertainment. Perhaps in a way their bulk gets them to perform better than their skinny friends as they have to work that much harder to survive. Smile

Somehow I don't see how the battle of self-esteem has to do with the highest elected official in the US. no matter what his physical makeup was/is he's going to attract attention wherever he goes, and be pre-judged not by his appearence, but on other merits good or bad. I seriously doubt he has a self-esteem problem...he never would have survived this long in politics if he did. Now a "self-image" problem is another story.

Question Not sure how you came to the conclusion from this discussion that anybody thought the President had a self-esteem problem? The self-esteem discussion was a side discussion about people who are fat and are automatically considered lazy because they are fat. If this side discussion is made applicable to the President, then obviously he would score very high in it. As he does look very fit. I can't imagine that he has a "self-image" problem either. He seems to have both esteem and image well under control.
