Where is the best country for education?

razum2um
There are so many talks what the previous educational system (in USSR) was awful. So we (Russian) need to rebuilt it, how it is in Europe and so on.
I just think it's non-patriotism.

Do you think your educational system is the best?

What I heard about education in the USSR was not that bad at all. It had advantages with respect to other successful systems that I had a chance to work in, such as the British and the French ones. And it was FREE in all the possible meanings of this word.

The system did produce many prominent academics. Many of them relocated abroad though, which is a loss for the countries in the former USSR that cannot be compensated at the moment. It turned out that the Soviet system was providing highly capable specialists for other countries for free, which is not a drawback in itself but a consequence of a deficiency in the Soviet managerial system that could not appropriately reward educated people in the USSR.

I think it is not an efficient method to start copying someone else's educational system even if it works better now. Probably it would be even better to try to come back to that old system because it is more Russian in spirit and has associated local traditions.

Notably, in many developed countries it becomes easier to get education, from primary to postgraduate, without paying any money. This reflects current social and economical tendencies in the world. A few ex-USSR countries like Estonia found their place thanks to joining the EU. Unlike the countries in the EU, Russia must understand and win its place in the world order. For Russia, improving the international position would solve many problems including the educational havoc.

Personally, I don't think that Russia would go this way under the present leadership. It is as clerical as the USSR government used to be in the good old days, including it's use of media for propaganda purposes Sad

This is hilarious. Very Happy
Can you please let me know of an educational system that does not put stress on quality? I thought quality was an inherent idea behind education.

What's true, I think, is that different educational systems use different means to achieve quality. From what you say, it seems that in Malaysia, "quality" stands for "being hard". That's a common thing, really. Smile

I think that polish education system is very good. You can study for free and lerning is on heigh level. I know many peopel who leave Poland and continue study in school in other country and they don't have any problems, they're better student that students from this country. But it is only my opinion;)

It sounds like the Polish system is very close to the Soviet one. Maybe it would serve as a good example of how a country preserved its education after the end of the communist rule. I think Russian education was in a bigger trouble after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
