Well, I wanted to post this several weeks ago, but I was keeping holding my horses because I was looking how the transfer market was going for Manchester United, and now it seems as though United is going to be uninterested by the big players.
As an Arsenal fan, I always disliked Manchester United more than I hate any other EPL club but Chelsea and Spurs. Not because they were keeping winning three years in raw, but because the way they play football and the way they still call their style of play impressive. And because they stopped us winning stuff...
But it seems they are going to struggle next year. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was (as everybody else knows) the key of their success who scored more than half of the goals that led Man United see great winnings in the least 4 years. He is off now to Real Madrid. Out of the EPL, and thats a great news.
Carlos Tevez, who was known as equalizer. Who used to bring Man United back into the game every time they were some goals behind is out, too. I hope he will end up in Man Citeh. He was great player, and I honestly liked him to see at Arsenal, but Arsenal has plenty of strikers and doesn't need him, I hope he will earn some of the huge money at Burj El-Manchester City.
Still in United's issue, having tons of EUROS earned from Ronaldo, they tracked a lot of great players including Benzema, Robin van Persie, Frank Ribery, Huntelaar and Pato, but none of them is interested in playing for Man United despite they won a lot of stuff, because nobody wants to play crap counter-attack based football.
What do you think?
So, what will Micheal Owen, Gabriel Obertan and Ontinio Valencia will do for United? I hope they will end up struggling for the Champions League position next year. As well as I hope Real Madrid to lose in the first stage of the CL, so Ronaldo will cry too much
Well, I too support Arsenal, but .... I still realistically think that Man Utd will qualify for the Champions League. They may struggle but I think they'll make it in the end.
As far as Arsenal are concerned, I think that they should aim for the title this season. It's been a while since they won silverware. Wenger should not let this opportunity go.

Yeah. Arsene Wenger should buy a defensive midfielder whatever he costs. Also he should keep all the players together.
As for United, they'll not miss the top four, but I think they'll struggle a lot.
I don't think that's the end of Manchester United. In fact they lost CR7 and Tevez but there is still great player. May be it's the end of a cycle but I think there is still a grat team. And I think before the end of the Mercato one or two grat players will join the team.
good bye Man Utd
Fergie should keep Tevez..just wait Tevez beat Man Utd
Wenger should buy experience def midfielder
come on Gunners!
look at the number of players that manschester has lost to real madrid in the past number of years?
that just shows that you may be good, but under manchester, u become great
I seriously doubt it worries fergusan.
while ronaldo is scoring goals for them and winning championships, man u is scouting for future legends...so i dont think so it is the end, just a beginning for others
Write United off at your own peril. They still have a very solid team though they now seem to be lacking in the creative midfield department. They wont be struggling that is for sure - tbh i think u AFC fans have more to worry about than United fans. Title will be between Chelsea and United. Liverpool had their chance and missed it.
Wenger needs to strengthen the depth in the Arsenal squad as well as bring in a bit more experience. Any injuries to key players and Arsenal are finished with no decent back up. U loose a CB or CM or now a Striker and well Arsenal will be scraping with AV and MC for 4th and god forbid for you gooners Spurs!
And to rub salt in the wound you just lost your most prolific goal scorer and the crock seems to be scoring for fun and looking very sharp in the red of United.
Carlo has continued to improve on Guus` work at the end of last season and Chelsea are looking VERY impressive with even the "whingers" pulling their wait and Drogba looking good and Anelka looking like he did at Arsenal.
Liverpool will be way off the top again this season with what looks like the imminent departure of Mascherono (spelling) and maybe a few months behind bars for half their 2 man team.............
@simonwest80,
I don't think either Aston Villa or Man City or even Spurs will end up in the top 4 at least this season. They are not balanced and they don't have a creative manager and creative players. AV lost their midfield creativity to Man City. Spurs don't have a manager like AW. Man City? Didn't you see their back four + their midfield = 0?
If a club was supposed to overtake Arsenal's position, then its Everton.
I can imagine you are Chelsea fan and you hate Arsenal too much because they stopped your club to win things and they are bigger club than Chelsea (comparing the medals, trophies and the titles Arsenal won through decades when Chelsea was something like Leeds United). Luckily they got some cash and they won two quick titles.
If you believe other little clubs will emerge and will eventually put Arsenal out of the competition, I can safely tell you that your imagination is failed. Great clubs will remain great. Look Juventus and AC Milan for examle. Juve was relegated but they struggled and they are back now. AC Milan got tough season and Carlo was not more committed, but they are still solid club and they will be back.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is the same, they moved to a new stadium and they have to pay hundreds of millions of debts. Though they have young and small squad, they are more creative than any other English club. Count the goals Man United and Chelsea scored, and count the goals Arsenal scored while they were in the 4th position, you will discover the talent at Arsenal.
Only Liverpool is the only club that can compete Arsenal with style of play. Their passing, they crossing, their speed and their style of play is like that of Arsene Wenger's boys. Liverpool was having tough seasons like Arsenal.
Whatever Chelsea will spend and whether they sack managers for fun, they will not win the premier league or champions league. And you will not surprise when you see Chelsea owner selling the club to Arab guys...
Also Man United won stuff because they had CR7. He is the guy who was responsible their wins against Arsenal through the last 5 years. He is the one who scored 40+ goals in one season, who would score that much for United without him? I don't think Owen, Berbatov, Nani and Park will score a total of 40 goals for United next season. I don't know Rooney, he is bloody and he knows what to do, but he cannot keep his nerves cool.
Arsenal lost Adebayor to Man City, but who cares? There is no single Arsenal fan who will miss Ade that much. Arsene Wenger will buy another talent. The guy knows who is fit with the red/white shirt.
There is some truth in the following poem:
| Quote: |
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken:
The crownless again shall be king.

this thread title is about the end of Manchester United, but the discussions are about Arsenal ? lol.. that's just well off-topic. But i guess that's not the consideration in this forum.
Back to topic, though I'm an Arsenal fan myself, I just don't see MU to slip much, maybe miss the champions title, but definitely in top 4. As much as I don't like SAF, he's a very capable manager and motivator. As some would remember, few season ago MU performed very badly at the start of the season, and a lot of people were writing them off. But they bounced back superbly to the title race. So the departure of C. Ronalod and Tevez are not the end of the world for them, definitely.
Jml i dont hate Arsenal at all - you are correct that i am a Chelsea fan and trust me i hate Spurs, Liverpool and United much more than Arsenal. However, i am also realistic. Arsenal played (notice i use the past term) some very pretty football but more recently have struggled - Your pretty football used to be good when you had some of the best players in the world - Viera, Henry to name a few. Unfortunately for you wenger replaced them with boys.
Arsenal stopped Chelsea from winning what exactly?? And i am not even going to start the my club is bigger than your club cr@p..............no point and everyone has their own opinion.
Oh dear and you are another of these deluded fools who believes the sun and when RA leaves please grow up and smell the roses. Arsenal need to spend some money on depth and then and only then will they push for a title.
And great Arsenal scored the same amount of goals as Chelsea and United - now if only the league was won on that basis you would have an argument but the fact is you conceded 13 more goals - it shows you have some talent in front of goal but none at the back.
Regarding United CR7 scored 40 goals the season before last - last season he was injured for 1/4 of the season and scored 18 goals there after. United dont need CR7 to win just ask Liverpool fans......
Maybe you wont miss Ade much as he was a pain in the ass but he scored goals. Also a little news flash Arsenal dont have any money to buy a new talent so its what u got or someones reject.
i hate to agree w/ a gooner, but i don't see man u finishing in the top 4
Manchester United will finish in the top 3!!!! And why not more... it will be so!!! And it's definitely not the end of Manchester United!!!
Well, it seems to be the end of the era where Man Utd had a reliable keeper at least.
Foster was hopeless in the penalty shootout the other day as Chelsea steamrolled Man Utd 4-1. The Red Devils were strong at penalties when Van der Sar was in his prime. This could be a key factor in the decline of Man Utd as a team ....
I hope and think that Man U will still be in good position in champions league, they still have a strong team and I think Ferguson knows what he is doing, but it's a great loss for sure with both Tevez and C.Ronaldo out of the team.

I agree DeltaM, what they need currently is to convert their chances into goals. They always play well in the defense and midfield area, but their front men are terrible, wasting chances, being offside and too steady. If they add a good striker they will sure do it again.
