You can also check out soundclick.com. Many bands/artists upload their music there so that you can listen to it and many allow you to download it for free. I've heard some pretty good people there.

well i have listened to defiance ohio they are really good. I don't currently know any of the bands that provide free mp3s but there are many bands that post the free mp3s
