I have recently updated my portfolio page on my website, as it was very messy and took a very long time to load.

I have added a wonderful Flash tiltviewer, which is free and found on this site: http://www.simpleviewer.net/tiltviewer/

It was very easy to install and no hassle involved to quickly link it up with all my photos on my Flickr PhotoStream!

I highly recommend this for any person wishing to display their work in an interesting way.

Here is the link to my website (the Flash tiltviewer can be found under "Portfolio") : http://www.scottphotographics.com/

Thanks for your time and any constructive criticism is welcome=)

It is a neat trick, but is also quite unwieldy. It was very difficult to just browse your images and look at one straight on. It is clever, though.

I have put the option in for a more formal and less "flashy" gallery : http://scottphotographics.com/portfolio/

You have some nice images here. My favorite is one that is of stars over a distant city. In the foreground, there are some large rocks in a body of water.

As far as your photography, I'd like to see you put together several portfolios. Right now, it seems as if your whole portfolio is just a bunch of photos that you like. Instead, I'd like to see you come up with images that go together--images that combined tell a story. Right now I'm not seeing that. You can definitely have more than one portfolio, too.

Alright, I'll look into and I'd defiantly like to put some notes to it or something.

Thanks for the constructive feedback! Very Happy

Hey, this is starting to look pretty good. I'd get rid of the hit counter, though, it doesn't look that great. Your footer could use a little work though. I see your text is bumping up against the left side of the box instead of having a little padding there. The footer also looks a little haphazard as if you don't really know what you want to put down there. I'd also like a little more delineation between the footer content and the bottom of the last post. Right now the "continue reading" looks like it has some sort of relationship with the hit counter. Perhaps if you put the footer below the wide border, that would help. I also might desaturate and lower the lightness of the HTML and CSS compliant marks.

In any case, it looks like your website is really coming around. I like this tutorial section and hope you'll add more.

Thanks for the detailed advice, I haven't been able to adjust those things just yet, but I will very soon Smile

Your new website look is 10 times better than your last.

I'd also remove the hit counter. If you want to see how many people visit your website, then use Google Analytics. It provides how many people visit daily, where from, country, browser, and a lot more. It's quite useful, and it keeps your information private. Your users really don't care how many people visit your website, so really it needs to be removed to get rid of some clutter.

Your "SP" text is horrible. It's extremely rough on the edges. Look at the top of the "S" in your header. It's not smooth at all, and it needs to be. I'm really not sure how you managed to make it look so rough. Even in your tutorial "Motion Background with Text" the SP in the final result looks way too rough. You need to fix that, it looks very unprofessional.

Also, change the color of your comment area. White on black in this situation is a bad idea. Make the comment box a very dark gray. Just barely off from black, but enough off so you can see that it is it's own section.

Theirs more, but I'm really picky and like everything to be perfect, so I'll stop here for now before I make this too long to where you won't read it.

Good luck.

Currently I am working on another theme for my website, I've had enough with all the various widgets and poorly made templates, I'm using a wordpress one now, which I'll change to in a couple of days (very soon)! SO, please stick around and checkout the newer theme and layout!

Thanks again,

Michael

Yep, it's great to see it grow, keep going!

PS: is it my browser (Firefox 3.x) or does your website not have a favicon?

Also, unless you built the design from scratch, I believe credits should appear somewhere, for instance at the bottom of the first page (along the lines of "design based on..."). Same remark for the photo of you in "About": if someone else took it, I guess appropriate credit should be given (perhaps in the "title" that appears when the mouse hovers over the picture, if you want to keep it discreet). At least that's what I think anyway. Cheers.
