I'm planning to buy a Cannon MarkII cos' it's full HD and the price is very reasonable, but I would use it to shot video instead of taking picture, does anybody here own one? I'm interested to know if there's any problematic areas I should know about....I'm not very sure if the video format it produces would be compatible with adobe suite and definitely want to know if the audio system would be good enough for dialogue recording etc....any help on this would be very much appreciated!!
Anybody using MarkII?
I had a shoot today with my friend and she has a 5D markII. I only used it for a brief couple minutes, I attached my 85mm F/1.2L II on it and the low light performance it is outstanding! I know in terms of certains features it beats the RED camera and others because of its full frame sensor. It doesnt have autofocus though while filming but Canon recently updated the firmware so its capable of changing appertures while shooting I think.
For the audio, I think the default setup isnt as good but you can attach a much better mic to it if you want. Also because of the shape of the camera.. the ergomics are more suited for taking still images so its a little difficult to maneuver when shooting video unless you rig it up to expensive stands. i know alot of people though that have mastered the art of shooting video with it handheld while focusing.
You can check out prices of hd video camera and check it against the $2800 price tag of the 5d, which would also need a better mic and you would also need somoe good lens for it.
I'm about 70% sure though that the video format is supported by adobe suite. Hope this helps a bit.

thanks so much for your detailed information! I'm now tempted to get one cos' the price is really attractive and some features of it beats the RED was one of the reasons why I'm so into it in the first place! Tripod is also one of my concerns as you pointed out, thanks for your advice
