Cost of Repair

I just happend to be involved in a vehicular accident where I have to pay for the vehicular damages. The damaged vehicle is a Suzuki Jimny. The damage is a small dent on the left door and scratched paint job from the left door up to the front. Can anyone give me at least an estimate? Coz I don't have insurance at the time, my bikes insurance has expired 4 months during the accident. So I'll have to pay for it, I want to know an estimate on how this would cause. Because the other party wants it to be repaired by their choice of mechanic and casa, just don't want it to get overpriced. Pls. someone help me.

Who knows? A picture at least would help.

Personally, I wouldn't fix it at all if it didn't impair the function of the vehicle any... But that's colored by my preference for buying trucks and keeping them for 10 years. (And by my enjoyment of rock-crawling... As the saying goes, "God forgives, rocks don't.")

If you're paying for it though, you should choose the shop it is done at.

The damaged vehicle is not mine. I have to pay for the damage as the accident was my fault. The owner choose the shop they want to repair it in. They just faxed the estimate a few days ago, the estimate says it will cost around 400 dollars. They didn't give me a choice of the shop, they insisted that they want it fixed on that particular shop. Although they have a comprehensive insurance they said they won't use it. As I suggested that they use their insurance instead and I'll just pay part of the participation. At that time btw my vehicle insurance is 4 months expired so no luck trying to use that one. I think they are just really giving me a hard time on this one. They could at least give me some consideration as I'm willing to pay for some of the amount and it was really an accident. (They could have at least gave me a choice of where to do the repairs, I know some shop that offers lower prices on their services.)

^Most insurance policies have deductibles of at least $500, so their insurance won't pay a dime for a $400 repair.

Just tell them that your insurance company will only pay for the work to be done at a certain shop (your choice). If they refuse that, they'll have to rely on their uninsured motorist coverage (if they have it), or they'll have to sue you. Hopefully, if you get sued, you could at least convince the judge to let you choose the repair shop, or let the judge choose the repair shop.

Pay the $400, apologize profusely and be very very thankful. That's a cheap repair. If they call the police it's going to cost you even more.

$400 is a lot on my country (that's 2 months salary). I was just really hoping that I could at least choose the shop, as in some shops that cost would have been cut in half. I did apologized and admitted that its really my fault, I'm just hoping for some consideration in their part as it was really an accident and not intentionally done.
