A few nice mods coming my way :)

I have an Aussie car, a nice little Holden VX Commodore station wagon.

Anyway, I recently made the executive decision to replace the AWFUL 4 speed automatic gearbox with the Getrag 5 speed manual which was used from the VS series III - VY V6 Commodores.

The reason I didn't buy a manual in the first place was because there is no such thing as a factory manual VX, VY, VZ or VE V6 manual. They made a limited range of SS Wagons which were V8s, with manual or automatic gearboxes with the VY series, and now with the VE series the only manual wagons they have are again - SS or SSV, with a V8 engine.

So, the manual tranny will be going in probably around New Years, when I should have plenty of time available and the wife won't need the car.

I've also just purchased one of these:

For $309 from a reputable eBay seller instead of the RRP $449, which will be bolted onto the gearbox before the installation Smile.

There's also a few other mods I'll be making:

2.5" Redback exhaust (not really interested in huge power gains, just a nice note).

Harder springs and shocks - I'm not going to lower the car because its height serves a practical purpose for someone who actually uses it for carting stuff around. I want it to sit flatter through corners, although it's pretty good already.

New speakers for the front and rear doors. Jaycar Response 6" splits will be installed in the front doors, running off my amp, and I'll probably do more of the splits in the rear doors running directly from the HU.

Performance chip/computer reprogramming from my local dyno tuning mob The Throttle Shop.

I'm trying to think of other things I want to do to the car, without spending too much money.

Any ideas?

A set of yellaterra roller rockers? Im looking at getting a set for my VR soon.

Also, if you are any good at tig welding cast metals, you could do a twin throttle or dual inlet plenum

I remember consider roller rockers for my old VN, hadn't really thought about it on the VX yet. Good idea Smile.

I don't know if a twin throttle would really be all that beneficial for me though.

Don't need one, I don't usually drive around where the kangaroos are Wink.

What about pedestrians?

I try not to hit people, they make too much of a mess Smile.

My short shifter arrived today, now I've just gotta buy the transmission to bolt it onto Smile

MACE engineering do manifold insulators and plenum spacers for the ecotec that you might be interested in.

I have given up on trying to get power out of the 3800 in my vr, So I have decided to give it a cheap white paintjob and sell the thing and hopefully get a VN V8 by the end of the year.

I haven't looked too much into engine mods yet... I'll definitely be getting roller rockers though, I've been looking at the Yella Terra ones. This isn't going to happen for quite some time yet as I have other things I should be spending money on.

The first engine mod I'll do will be the rockers. I want to start off with doing things that I should be able to do myself and go from there, it should be a good learning experience for me Smile
