Free Notes Website (for high school-ers)

What does everyone think about free online notes websites like Sparknotes and such. They are technically not cheating as it doesnt actually give you essays just many, many notes. Haha.

Anyway, I think there is definatly a gap in the 'market' for a notes website for people aiming at higher grades than B's and C's at a GCSE level (ages 14/15). Sites like Sparknotes do not give notes with enough information to access the higher A and A* grades. Notes books, such as York Notes and Cliff Notes do, but you have to go and buy those.

What do you think?
(and if anyone knows of any better sites than Sparknotes please reply)

Thanks!

I'm 15, and I used sparknotes for my Romeo and Juliet studies, just to understand it better. I'm an honour student and I did excellent in english, although other than the Romeo and Juliet part, places like sparknotes didn't help too much... I got perfect on my essay for the Chrysalids, and didn't use a single place like that, just the book... (actually the ebook was useful since I could search for quotes).
On my school's website there is an actual link to sparknotes, and I find that funny Razz Places like that can't really help you with writing an essay, essays are mostly about vocabulary...
There for sure aren't enough sites like this... I wish someone would make another one, I certainly couldn't... but it would be a pretty good idea for someone who wanted a lot of traffic on their site...

wikipedia is the major source of information all you need, whetther you study high level or low level.

While that is true, askfriends, many teachers ban the use of Wikipedia as a resource. I think that a site that has notes on multiple school subjects could easily become a top site, seeing as most teens go to the internet for help before anything/anyone else.

There are many such sites already. I'm not going to advertise any, because the ones I know are commercial.
Be warned, however - us teachers are not dopes. I have several products to spot plagiarism, as well as years of experience. If any of my students quotes bit chunks from the internet, or other sources, they get a big fat F

There is a major issue with wikipedia though... There are many teachers who won't accept wikipedia as a valid source... And you have to give your sources... If you use any content to gain information, you have to cite it.

Wikipedia is a very bad source for one major reason. Anyone can change it, to anything. Including the wrong information. So don't use it as your main source, you end up using the wrong information Smile

Note are really helpful for each student. Notes make to learn the topics easy.

The major problem of online tutorials are their authenticity. In the academic world, the information is not considered as authentic unless it is supported by any reputed text book. So if any of my student write anything from net (even from wikipedia) and fail to support it by some text book of repute, he/she will get a big Zero in the examination. So better stay off from online notes atleast for the examination point of view. For gathering of knowledge (If at all a proper ) , it may be used, but with care.

Sites like Spark notes and Wikipedia are good. Bad students make them look bad. I think that students should be educated on how to make use of notes websites. They should be told that these websites provide help not content for their papers.
